Northwestern Upends Illinois

(Evanston, IL) -- Drew Crawford had 13 points and eight rebounds to lead Northwestern in a 49-43 win over Illinois in Evanston last night. Tracy Abrams ended with 13 points for Illinois in the loss. The Fighting Illini host Purdue Wednesday while the Wildcats host Michigan State.

 

College Basketball Roundup

In other local college basketball from the weekend, Notre Dame suffered a 74-69 loss at Georgia Tech on Saturday. The Fighting Irish fell to 10-6. Sunday, Northern Illinois beat Bowling Green 45-36 while UIC lost 58-53 to Wright State. DePaul plays St. John's Tuesday.


ASU Falls At UCLA

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Jermaine Marshall had 25 points but Arizona State came up short in last night's 87-72 loss at UCLA. Jordan Bachynski added 14 points and eight rebounds as the Sun Devils fell to 13-4 with a 2-2 Pac-12 mark. The Devils meet top-ranked U-of-A down in Tucson Thursday.


Iowa Upends Ohio State

(Columbus, OH) -- Roy Devyn Marble had 22 points to lead Iowa in an 84-74 upset over Ohio State in Columbus Sunday. Aaron White added 19 points while Melsahn Basabe netted 11 points with 10 rebounds for Iowa. The Hawkeyes moved to 14-and-3 on the year and host Minnesota on Sunday.


Louisville Downs S. Methodist

Southern Methodist fell at No. 8 Louisville 71-63 Sunday. The Mustangs are 11-4 and host South Florida Wednesday night.


Stanford Leaves Oregon With Win

Stanford edged No. 13 Oregon 82-80 in Eugene to improve to 10-5. The Cardinal host Washington State Wednesday.


CU Falls To Washington

(Seattle, WA) -- Josh Scott had 15 points and six rebounds but Washington came out with a 71-54 win over Colorado Sunday in Seattle. Wesley Gordon added 11 points and 13 boards for the Buffaloes, who fell to 14-3 with a 3-1 Pac-12 mark. The Buffs host UCLA Thursday.


McDermott Leads Creighton Over Xavier

(Omaha, NE) -- Doug McDermott overcame a sprained left shoulder to score 35 points as Creighton beat visiting Xavier 95-89 Sunday. Ethan Wragge hit five three-pointers as the Bluejays improved to 14-2. Creighton hosts Butler Tuesday.


UCLA Bounces ASU

(Los Angeles, CA) -- UCLA made quick work of Arizona State using a 17-point advantage in the first half and holding on for a 87-72 victory at Pauley Pavilion. Zach LaVine tallied 19 points, while Kyle Anderson chipped in 17 points with 13 rebounds and seven assists. The Bruins improved to 13-3 overall and 2-1 in the Pac 12. They are at Colorado Thursday.
