Edwardsville Downs T-town, B/SE Falls to C-W

EDWARDSVILLE -- Teutopolis High School ran into a buzzsaw as Edwardsville claimed a 58-24 win over the Wooden Shoes in girls basketball action Tuesday evening.

Edwardsville took a 14-6 opening quarter lead and led 27-11 at halftime. Edwardsville then outscored the Shoes 31-13 in the second half.

Dunbar and Covington tallied 17 points each for the winners. T-town was led by M. Hartke with 11 points.

Casey-Westfield picked up a 65-59 non-conference victory over Brownstown/St. Elmo Tuesday evening.

Brownstown/St. Elmo took a 13-11 opening quarter lead but the Warriors came roaring back with a 22-8 second period run to lead 33-21 at halftime. B/SE pulled within 47-39 in the third period and outscored the Warriors 20-18 in the final quarter but fell short.

Austin tallied 19 for B/SE while Pruett scored 11 and Oberlink 11.
