Stew-Stras Wins Homecoming Battle w/Windsor, Cowden-Herrick Comes Up Short

The Stewardson-Strasburg Comets won their Homecoming game to open their season Wednesday night, downing the Windsor Blue Devils in overtime 72-69.  The Comets will return the favor and play at Windsor's Homecoming game in a just a couple of weeks.

Windsor led 15-12 after one quarter, but the Comets held a 28-26 lead at halftime.  Stew-Stras was up 47-41 after three quarters, but the Blue Devils outscored the Comets 19-13 in the fourth quarter to force the overtime.  Stew-Stras outscored Windsor 12-9 in the extra period to claim the win.

Brandon Helmuth with 28 points and Jason Fry with 26 points paced Stew-Stras to the win.  Tristan Warner had 23 and Garrett Haddock 16 for the Blue Devils.

Despite 56 points from Colton Burrus and Dylan Barnes, the Cowden-Herrick Hornets lost 75-72 at the Mulberry Grove Thanksgiving Tournament Wednesday night to Mulberry Grove.

Mulberry Grove led 15-10 after one quarter and 35-31 at halftime.  After a 16-16 third quarter, Cowden-Herrick outscored Mulberry Grove 25-24 in the final period, but came up three points short.

Colton Burrus scored 35 points for Cowden-Herrick on 14 of 23 shooting including three three-pointers.  Dylan Barnes added 21 points on eight of 12 shooting.
