EJHS Claims Wins Over Charleston, Area Boys Roundup

CHARLESTON -- Effingham Junior High School traveled to Charleston and picked up two victories over the host squad.
In seventh-grade play, the Mustangs remained unbeaten with a 35-18 win and improve to 5-0. Wolfe tallied 13 and Bushur 10 for the winners. Lee led in rebounding with 12.
The seventh-grade also claimed a B game 18-14.
In eighth-grade action, Effingham edged Charleston 51-48 to improve to 4-1 on the season. The Mustangs held a 24-19 halftime lead then had to hold off Charleston in the second half.
Hull scored 15, Levitt 14 and Sandifer 12 for the winners. Koester led in assists with six. Hull had six rebounds while Hill had four rebounds and Sandifer three steals.
Effingham also claimed a B game 12-9.

Altamont handed Effingham Sacred Heart two losses. Altamont was a 46-8 winner in seventh-grade action.

In eighth-grade action, Altamont was a 41-10 winner. Runge scored 10 for the winners while Sacred Heart was led by Sherrod with seven.

In eighth-grade action, T-town won 43-14. Collin Funneman led T-town with nine points. Chapman led Jasper County with five.

St. Elmo/Brownstown and Cowden-Herrick split wins. In the seventh-grade contest, Cowden-Herrick was a 30-27 winner. Alex Edwards led the way with 11 points for the winners. Aderman scored 11 for SEB.
In eighth-grade action, St. Elmo/Brownstown won 43-33. Brown was the big scorer for the winners with 22 points. Cowden-Herrick was led by Blake Barnes with 10.
