Mustangs Beat Altamont, Area Girls Basketball Roundup

ALTAMONT -- Effingham claimed two victories over Altamont in junior high girls basketball competition Tuesday evening.
The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest 34-5. Effingham took a 21-4 halftime lead and never looked back. Weis tallied 11 for the winners while Fearday chipped in with nine. Mette and Mayhaus had two points each for Altamont.Effingham is now 15-1 on the season.
In eighth-grade action, Effingham was a 28-20 winner. The Mustangs led 9-8 at halftime then had a 12-8 third period run. The Mustangs were led by Myers with eight points and Martin with seven. Mette and Wolff had four each for Altamont. Effingham is now 14-2.

At Strasburg
Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor handled Ramsey easily in both seventh and eighth-grade play.
Stew-Stras/Windsor took a 14-0 first quarter lead in seventh-grade play and went on for a 41-8 victory. Schlechte scored 12 for the winners who improve to 13-5.
In the eighth-grade game, Stew-Stras/Windsor was a 32-16 winner. Everett scored 14. The squad improves to 3-15.

At Beecher City
Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick claimed two wins over Shelbyville Tuesday evening.
BCCH held Shelbyville scoreless in the first half of the seventh-grade game for an 18-0 lead and went on for a 24-8 win. Tabitha Endsley tallied 10 to lead the winners who are now 10-7.
In eighth-grade action, BCCH led 15-4 at halftime and went on for a 25-8 win in eighth-grade play. Becca Morgason led even scoring up and down the lineup with six points. Eight other players scored in the game as BCCH is now 3-13.

Dieterich split victories with North Clay (Louisville). Dieterich was a winner in seventh-grade action 23-12.
Andrea Bierman led with 10 points while Gracie Britton had five and Kate Bloemer four.
In eighth-grade play, North Clay won 37-18. Dieterich was led by Lauren Garbe with nine and Hailey Deain with four.
At Teutopolis
Teutopolis improved its records in both seventh and eighth-grade play against Olney Tuesday evening.
T-town won the seventh-grade contest 35-17. Claire Bushur tallied eight points to lead the Wooden Booties who improve to 15-2.
In eighth-grade action, Teutopolis was a 23-19 winner and is now 9-8. Marianna Hemmen tallied 10 for the winners.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game 32-9 to improve to 11-6. Meg Richards scored eight for the winners.
In eighth-grade action, Robinson Nuttall was a 19-17 winner. The Bullpups drop to 3-14 on the season. Keri McGuire, Richards and Katie Kabbes scored four points each for St. Anthony.
