Heat Cool Off Clippers
(Miami, FL) -- Dwyane Wade had a throw back performance putting up 29 points, seven assists and four rebounds to lead the Heat to a 102-97 win against the Clippers at AmericanAirlines Arena. LeBron James added 18 points, six assists and five boards for Miami, which moved to 4-2. The Heat shot 54-percent from the field. Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul all had double-doubles in the loss. Griffin led the way with 27 points and 14 rebounds, while Paul chipped in with 11 points and 12 assists. Los Angeles has lost two in-a-row and is 3-3.
Nuggets Squeak Past Hawks
(Denver, CO) -- The Nuggets sank 14 three pointers on their way to a 109-107 win over the Hawks at the Pepsi Center. Ty Lawson led Denver with 23 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, while Nate Robinson hit four from behind the arc on his way to 15 points off the bench. After three consecutive losses to start this season this was Denver's first win. Paul Millsap posted 29 points, 10 boards and five assists in the loss. Atlanta dropped to 2-3. Al Horford tallied 21 points, nine boards, five helpers and four blocks for the Hawks.
Lakers Sink Rockets
(Houston, TX) -- Steve Blake's three pointer in the closing moments lifted the Lakers past Dwight Howard and the Rockets, 99-98, at the Toyota Center. It was Howard's first game against his former team, and he finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds, but was 5-of-16 from the free throw line. Los Angeles was able to win despite Pau Gasol shooting 1-of-10 from the field and Steve Nash missing 8-of-11 shots. The Lakers sank 16 three pointers including five from Jodie Meeks, who paced them with 18 points. LA is 3-3. James Harden scored a game-high 35 points with nine rebounds and five assists in the loss. Houston is 4-2.
