Effingham Junior High School captured two victories over Olney in girls basketball competition Monday evening.
The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest 43-18, leading 25-6 at halftime. Fearday tallied 17 and Weis 14 for the Mustangs who improve to 10-1.
In eighth-grade action, Effingham was a 49-22 winner. The Mustangs ripped out to a 26-4 halftime lead and never looked back. Armstrong scored 14 and Myers 10. Effingham is now 9-2 on the season.

Dieterich and Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick picked up a victory each Monday evening.
BCCH was a winner in seventh-grade action 25-14. Amanda Smith tallied 14 for the winners connecting on seven field goals. Leading Dieterich was A. Bierman with eight. BCCH is now 5-1 on the season.
In eighth-grade play, Dieterich won 26-12. Dieterich held a 12-4 halftime lead then had an 8-2 third period run. A. Shadle led the way with 12 points. BCCH drops to 2-6 on the season.

Oblong claimed a 22-8 victory over Jasper County in seventh-grade action in the LEIC Tournament Monday.
Abby Stone led Jasper County with four points. Jasper County will play for third place Wednesday at 6 p.m.
