St. Michael, BCCH Advance In NTC Tourney, St. A Splits

Sigel St. Michael and Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick advanced in the winner bracket of the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Thursday evening.
St. Michael claimed a 25-6 victory over Neoga. Flach and Krampe scored six points for the winners while Buening chipped in with five.
Neoga was led by Walk with four.
In the second contest, Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick defeated Brownstown/St. Elmo 27-5. Morgason scored nine for the winners while Endsley and Wojcik added six each. Oberlink led BSTE with three.
In consolation bracket action, Effingham Sacred Heart defeated Dieterich 29-15. Carie scored 11 and Webster 10 for the Shamrocks. Dieterich was led by Bloemer with seven and Bierman with four.
Action continues tonight with Neoga taking on Brownstown/St. Elmo at 5:30 p.m. in consolation bracket play while Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor will meet Altamont at 6:45 and St. Michael squares off against Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick at 8, both in winner bracket action.
The tournament comes to a close Saturday with the consolation championship at 9 a.m., the third place game at 10:45 and the championship at 11:30.
At Louisville
Effingham St. Anthony and North Clay (Louisville) split victories Thursday evening.
St. Anthony was a winner in seventh-grade play 37-12 to improve to 7-5 on the season. Katie Kabbes tallied 11 points.
In eighth-grade play, North Clay won 34-18. Kessler led the winners with 15 points. St. Anthony was led by Meg Richards and Sydney Gibson with four points each as the Bullpups drop to 1-9.

Jasper County claimed two victories over Palestine/Hutsonville in action Thursday evening.
Jasper County won the seventh-grade contest 39-9. Abby Stone and Mallory Bergbower tallied seven points each for the winners.
In eighth-grade play, Jasper County was a 42-18 winner. Abby Frohning scored 20 in the win.
