Altamont, Stew-Stras/Windsor Advance in NTC Girls Tournament

Altamont and Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor picked up opening round victories in the National Trail Seventh-Grade Girls Basketball Conference Tournament Wednesday evening.
In the opening game, Stew-Stras/Windsor stepped out to a 10-0 first quarter lead and held Dieterich scoreless to lead 16-0 at halftime. Dieterich didn't score until the final quarter.
K. Davis led the winners with 14 points while Schlechte added nine. Stew-Stras/Windsor improves to 10-2 on the season.
In the second game, Altamont downed Effingham Sacred Heart 21-17. Leading Altamont were Mayhaus with seven and Grimsley with six. Altamont will take on Stew-Stras/Windsor at 6:45 p.m. Friday in winner bracket action.
Sacred Heart was led by Bushue with eight and Webster with seven. The Shamrocks drop into consolation bracket play where they will square off against Dieterich at 8 p.m. today.
In other games today, Sigel St. Michael faces Neoga at 5:30 p.m. and Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick take on Brownstown/St. Elmo at 6:45 p.m.
The tournament continues Friday and will finish out Saturday with the championship at 11:30 a.m.
