Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School claimed two girls basketball victories over Neoga Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade contrest 31-0 to improve to 2-0. McHugh tallied 12 points for the winners.

In the eighth-grade game, St. Anthony was a 20-12 winner. Saba had seven points. Neoga was led by Atwell with six. The Bullpups are 1-1.

At Effingham

Effingham downed Mattoon in both contests. The Mustangs won the seventh-grade encounter 32-14. Weis tallied 19 and Fearday 11 for Effingham.

In eighth-grade play, Effingham was a 37-29 winner. Mattoon led 26-23 going into the fourth quarter when Effingham rallied with a 14-3 run. Myers led the Mustangs with 18 points while Ramos tallied 11.

Both Effingham teams are now 2-0 on the season.

At Altamont

Altamont claimed two victories over Dieterich in action Tuesday evening.

Altamont held Dieterich scoreless in the second quarter for a 23-10 halftime lead. Altamont then went on for a 36-23 win. C. McHugh and S. Stone led the winners with nine points each. Jan Robards led Dieterich with nine.

In the eighth-grade game, Altamont won 37-8, taking a 19-2 first half lead. Schultz had 13 points for the winners.  Andrea Bierman scored all eight points for Dieterich.

At Vandalia

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick split victories with Vandalia. BCCH won the seventh-grade contest 20-15 in overtime. Three players hit six points each for the winners, Lauren Wojcik, Tabitha Endsley and Amanda Smith.

In the eighth-grade game, Vandalia was a 24-21 winner. Leading BCCH was Endsley with six points.
