(Washington, DC) -- The champion University of Connecticut women's basketball was recognized in Washington, D.C. President Obama welcomed the team to the White House Wednesday in honor of winning the 2013 NCAA Tournament.

Obama also recognized the team's efforts to give back to the community. Head coach Geno Auriemma presented Obama with a signed team basketball and jacket. The Lady Huskies blasted Louisville 93-60 in the women's final of the NCAA Tournament in New Orleans in April. It was UConn's eighth national championship overall.

 

Rockets' Terrence Jones Arrested For Alleged Homeless Stomp

(Portland, OR) -- Rockets forward Terrence Jones is facing harassment charges for allegedly stomping on a homeless man's leg in Portland. Police say Jones stomped on the man's leg early Wednesday outside a nightclub after telling him to wake up.  Investigators aren't sure why the 21-year-old allegedly stepped on the man. The victim wasn't injured. The Rockets wouldn't comment.

 

Wall Signs New Five-Year Deal With Wizards

(Washington, DC) -- Point guard John Wall has signed a new contract extension with the Wizards. The "Washington Post" quotes sources as saying the five-year, $80-million deal will take effect at the start of the 2014-15 season. The Wizards will make a formal announcement about the signing at news conference today. He averaged 18.5 points per game during an injury-shortened season in 2012-13.

Dallas Mavericks -- Signed guard Devin Harris.

Detroit Pistons -- Acquired guard Brandon Jennings from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for guard Brandon Knight, forward Khris Middleton and center Viacheslav Kravtsov.
