Four National Conference boys basketball teams advanced from the Class 1A South Central Regional Monday evening.

In the opening game, Dieterich was an easy 89-40 winner over Sandoval.

Brock Niemerg got the Maroons off in the right direction, scoring four baskets, one a three-pointer, and was one of two at the line for 10 points in the opening quarter 28-5 run. Lucas Westendorf added seven points and Bryce Bohnhoff five.

The Maroons continued on in the second quarter with a 23-8 run to lead 51-13 at halftime. This time it was Landen Keck who went on a run, hitting two regular baskets, one three-pointer and four of five at the line for 11 of his team's points. Bohnhoff also got in the action with two three-pointers and a regular basket for eight.

Dieterich had a 25-16 run in the third quarter. Westendorf put in 10 while Braylon Williams scored his first points of the game, connecting on a regular basket, a three-pointer and was two of five at the line for seven. Ezra Cook, who also didn't score in the first half, tallied six and Westendorf added on 10 more points.

Six players hit double figures for Dieterich while 10 scored in the contest. Westendorf led the way with seven field goals, one a three-pointer, and two of two at the line for 17. Keck and B. Niemerg finished with 14 each, Bohnhoff 13, Williams 11 and Cook 10. The Maroons finished with nine three-pointers in the contest and hit 14 of 20 from the free throw line.

Sandoval was led by Gordon with 18 and Gore with 12.

In the second contest, South Central downed St. Elmo/Brownstown as two National Trail Conference teams met.

The Cougars trailed St. Elmo/Brownstown by a 13-8 opening quarter count. Graiden Wilhour connected on two three-pointers while Gavin Sanders also nailed a three-pointer.

Both teams slowed down in the scoring department in the second quarter as SEB had a slight 9-7 edge to lead 22-15 at halftime.

The Cougars then came out with a 14-4 third quarter run as Callaway Smith tallied five points and Seth Bergmann hit a three-pointer and the Cougars had moved into a 29-26 lead.

In the final period, South Central connected on free throws, hitting nine of 14. Kage Hiestand finished with five in the final quarter as South Central put the game away, 40-29.

C. Smith finished with 10 to lead South Central with three field goals, two of those three-pointers and two of two at the line. Hiestand added nine and Brody Markley eight.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by G. Wilhour with 11 on four field goals, three of those beyond the arc. The Eagles finished with a 13-18 record.

Altamont claimed a 66-32 win over Patoka Co-op in the third game.

The Indians pushed into a 15-7 opening quarter lead as Cooper McManaway hit two three-pointers and a regular basket for eight points.

Altamont then had a 22-8 second period run to lead 37-15 at halftime. McManaway added on five more points while Alex Walker, Parker Bell and Zaine MIller connected on a three-pointer each.

The Indians then had a 25-6 third quarter to lead 62-21. McManaway put in four two-pointers and was two of two at the line for 10 points. Bell, Tyler Ruffner and Miller scored on a three-pointer each.

Altamont finished with nine three-pointers in the game. McManaway hit three while Bell and Miller had two each.

McManaway led the way with 23 points on nine field goals and two of three at the line. Ben Roedl added 12 points on five field goals and two of two at the ilne.

North Clay (Louisville) was an easy winner over Mulberry Grove by a 77-34 count in Game 4. The Cardinals are now 23-9 on the season.

Dieterich and South Central will now square off at 6 p.m.Wednesday while Altamont faces North Clay at 7:30. The winners move on to the championship game Friday at 7 p.m.

Class 1A Chrisman Regional

Neoga picked up a 47-40 victory over Heritage in opening round play of the Chrisman Regional Monday evening.

Heritage moved into a 16-9 opening quarter lead. Neoga's Luke Keller scored seven of his team's nine points.

The Indians then went on an 18-7 second period run to lead 27-23 at halftime.

Heritage came back with a slight 9-8 third quarter run to trail 35-32 going into the final period.

Neoga then finished strong with a 12-8 tally as Keller put in two baskets and two free throws for half his team's points in the quarter.

Keller finished with six field goals, one of those a three-pointer, and two of four at the line for 15. Gavin Ray tallied 14 on six field goals and two of two at the line.

In other games, Casey-Westfield trounced Chrisman 93-33, Tuscola beat Villa Grove 74-29 and Martinsville defeated Hume Shiloh Co-op, 61-51.

Neoga wil now meet Casey-Westfield at 6 p.m. Wednesday while Tuscola and Martinsville square off at 7:30. The winners advance to the championship game Friday at 6 p.m.
