Brownstown/St. Elmo, Windsor/-Stew Stras Pick Up 1A Girls Regional Victories

The Bombers, seeded third, won over fifth-seeded Mount Olive easily, 59-26.
BSE ripped out to a 26-13 opening quarter lead as Dayana Haslett hit four baskets, one from three-point range, for nine points while Danika Ramsey connected three times from beyond the arc, also for nine points.
The lead stood at 36-16 at halftime. BSE then had a 15-9 third quarter run as Addie Sasse put in two baskets, one a three-pointer, for five and Presley Williams and Haslett added four each.
The Bombers finished out with an 8-1 final quarter as Jaydin Huddlestun scored a three-pointer and was two of two at the line for five and Audria Logue hit a three-pointer.
Haslett finished with16 points to lead the winners on seven field goals, two from three-point range. Also in double figures were Williams and Miller with 10 each.
In the opening game of the evening, Glen Carbon Father McGivney, seeded second, downed seventh-seeded North Clay (Louisville), 44-18.
The Cardinals of North Clay ended the season with a 12-19 record.
Brownstown/St. Elmo and Father McGivney will now meet at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship and the right to advance to the Raymond Lincolnwood Sectional Tuesday, Feb. 25.

Class 1A Decatur St. Teresa Regional
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, seeded third in the Decatur St. Teresa Regional defeated Moweaqua Central A&M, 51-48.
The Hatchets edged out to a 17-12 opening quarter lead as Kendra Hayes went to work, connecting on four baskets, one from three-point range, for nine points while Katelyn VonBehrns hit for six points.
The lead went to 32-20 after the second quarter. Windsor/Stew-Stras scored eight points in the quarter on three field goals and two of two at the line. Clarissa Johnson added a three-pointer.
Central A&M pulled within three points going into the final quarter with a 19-10 run. Gwen Hardiman hit five baskets for 10 points and A&M put in five of five from the free throw line.
But Windsor/Stew-Stras held off A&M as the two teams played to a 9-9 final quarter.
K. Hayes hit six field goals and was two of two at the line for 15 points for the Hatchets while S. Hayes connected on five field goals and five of seven at the line, also for 15.
In the opening game of the evening, Decatur St. Teresa downed Argenta-Oreana, 45-22.
Windsor/Stew-Stras will now meet second-seeded Decatur St. Teresa at 6:30 pm. Thursday for the regional championship with the winner advancing to the Arcola Sectional Tuesday, Feb. 25.
