Teutopolis Shootout Scores; Newton Falls To Pana

The Hearts took on Sullivan and was a 67-43 winner.
EHS ran out to an 18-4 opening quarter lead behind a three-point barrage. Jenner Pals connected on two while Ian Kinkelaar and Jake Niebrugge put in one each.
In the second quarter, Sullivan came back with a 17-10 run as Camden Watkins put in 14 of those 17 points on two three-pointers and four regular baskets. The Hearts still led 28-21.
EHS then had a 21-9 third quarter surge as Jude Traub hit three trifectas and Pals put in two more.
The Hearts finished out with an 18-13 final quarter.
Pals led the way with 20 points on seven field goals, five from beyond the arc, and one of two at the line. Traub tallied 18 points on six three-pointers. EHS finished with 15 three-pointers in the contest.
Sulivan was led by Watkins with 22 points.
Troy Triad handed Teutopolis a 48-38 loss in the final game of the day.
The two teams were tied at 8-8 in the opening quarter. Triad then broke loose with a 21-7 run to lead 29-15 at halftime. T-town had a slight 14-9 third quarter edge but Triad finished out with a 10-9 final period.
Mick Niebrugge led the Wooden Shoes with 12 points on four field goals, one a three-pointer, and three of four at the line. Gavin Addis chipped in with 10.
T-town hit only 33.3 percent for the game while Triad was hitting at a 51.3 clip.
In the opening game, Casey-Westfield bounced Tri-City 73-26. The third contest went to Alton 56-54 in overtime over Decatur MacArthur.

At Pana
Newton traveled to Pana Saturday and fell to the homestanders by a 54-32 tally.
The Panthers edged out to an 11-8 opening quarter lead and led 23-21 at halftime as Newton came back with a slight edge.
Pana then had a 20-5 third quarter run to put the game away.
Newton had only one player in double figures. Kody Bergbower hit six field goals and one of three at the line for 13 points.
The Eagles fall to 9-17 on the season and return to action hosting Casey-Westfield Tuesday.
