High School Girls Basketball Regionals Begin Saturday, Monday

In Class 1A, Neoga will host a regional that includes top-seeded Effingham St. Anthony, Altamont, Dieterich, Neoga and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.

Two games open play Saturday as Dieterich plays host to Red Hill (Bridgeport) at 1 p.m. and  CHBC travels to Neoga for a 5 p.m. contest.

St. Anthony and Altamont will open play Monday taking on the winners of those two games at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg will be competing in the Class 1A Decatur St. Teresa Regional. The Hatchets won't play until Monday at 7:30 p.m. against the winner of the Cerro Gordo/Bement vs. Moweaqua Central A&M contest that is Saturday. In the other contest Saturday, Decatur Unity Christian Co-op takes on Argenta-Oreana.

Also in Class 1A, South Central will host a regional that includes National Trail Conference teams, Brownstown/St. Elmo, North Clay and South Central.

South Central travels to Mount Olive in a 2 p.m. contest Saturday while North Clay hosts Ramsey Co-op Saturday at 6 p.m.

BSE will face the winner of the South Central vs. Mount Olive contest Monday at 7:30 p.m. 

In Class 2A, Teutopolis, Newton and Cumberland will be competing in the Palestine Regional.

In game one, Cumberland travels to Marshall for a 1 p.m. contest Saturday while Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville is at Robinson in game two at 5 p.m.

In Tuesday play, Teutopolis faces the winner of game one at 6 p.m. while Newton takes on the winner of the second game at 7:30.

Effingham will be the lone area team competing in Class 3A. The Hearts will face Centralia at 7:30 p.m. in the Troy Triad Regional Monday. In the opening game of the regional, Troy Triad and Salem square off at 6 p.m.
