Effingham, S. Central, N. Clay Nab Girls H.S. Basketball Wins

Alyssa Martin connected on four baskets in the opening quarter while Tessa Raddatz nailed two three-pointers and the Hearts were off and running with a 24-7 tally.
EHS took the lead to 37-11 at halftime. Sidney Donaldson knocked in three baskets for six and Raddatz added another three.
Coach Jeff Schafer's crew then had an 18-6 third quarter to lead 55-17. Bria Beals, who scored one basket in the first half, went on a run, hitting a two-pointer and two from beyond the arc for eight in the quarter while Donaldson added six more to her total.
Three players finished in double figures for the Hearts. Donaldson scored 14 on seven field goals while Martin added 13 and Beals 10.
Effingham improved to 22-7 on the season and will get right back in action today playing host to Apollo Conference opponent Mount Zion.
The Hearts also claimed the junior varsity game, 49-41. McKenzie Love led the way with 11 points while Drew Weis had 10 and Melia Wendling finished with nine. It was the 19th victory for the Hearts.

At Wayne City
South Central edged out to a 12-8 opening quarter lead then had a 10-4 second period and went on for a 45-31 victory over Wayne City Wednesday evening.
The Cougars had a 23-19 second half as Kaitlin Swift connected on two three-pointers in the third quarter and three baskets, that included two more three-pointers and two free throws for all 10 points in the final period.
Swift tallied 24 points on eight field goals, six of those from beyond the arc, and two of two at the line. Percilla Reid finished next with eight points.

North Clay returns to action Saturday against Ramsey in the Class 1A South Central Regional. This opening contest will be played at Louisville.
