The scoring was low in the first half. The Wooden Shoes edged out to an 8-6 lead in the first quarter. Drew Hoene connected for five points on a regular basket and a three-pointer.
Hayden Mulvey scored four points for the Eagles.
Newton went on a 13-9 second quarter run to lead 19-17 at halftime. Mulvey hit a regular basket and a three-pointer for five while Kody Bergbower hit two baskets and Lance Volk and Quincy Fulton were two of two at the line each.
The Eagles hit 41.1 percent from the field in that first half and 66.7 percent from the free throw line.
T-town hit only 22.2 percent from the field.
But T-town started the comeback bid with an 11-7 run in the third quarter to move into a 28-26 lead. Gavin Addis hit a three-pointer and scored five while Hoene put in four points and Alex Kremer a basket.
T-town then salted the game away with an 18-13 final period run. Mick Niebrugge went to work. After not scoring in the first three quarters, Niebrugge hit two baskets and was three of four at the line for seven. Addis chipped in with six and Kremer four.
Two players finished in double figures for the Shoes. Addis led the way with six field goals, two from three-point range, and one of two at the line for 16. Hoene chipped in with 10 and Kremer added nine.
Newton was led by Mulvey with seven field goals, one a three-pointer, for 15 and Volk added 10.
T-town easily won the junior varsity game, 67-19. Twelve players scored for the Shoes led by Davin Worman and Kendall Mette with nine each and Gavin Buening with eight.
Newton was led by Parker Harris with six.

At St. Anthony
Effingham St. Anthony edged out to a 19-1 opening quarter lead and finished with an eight-point victory over Casey-Westfield, 60-52 Tuesday evening.
The Bulldogs' Ryan Schmidt connected for 10 opening quarter points on three regular baskets and a three-pointer while Brock Fearday chipped in with seven on three baskets, one from beyond the arc.
The Warriors came back with a 15-13 second quarter run as Parcel and Jones hit for six points each. Casey-Westfield trailed by just one point, 32-31 at halftime.
But the Bulldogs' Schmidt continued on with eight points in the third quarter, hitting two of two from the line and two three-pointers. B. Fearday added on two three-pointers. St. Anthony had a 16-8 run to lead 48-39 going into the final quarter.
Casey-Westfield made a comeback bid again, but only with a 13-12 final quarter run.
Schmidt hit eight field goals, three of those from three-point range, and was five of five at the line for 25 points. B. Fearday chipped in with 17.
Casey-Westfield was led by Hayden Parcel with 25 points on 11 field goals, two three-pointers, and one of two at the line.
In the junior varsity contest, Casey-Westfield was a 70-59 winner. The Warriors were led by Jackson High with 31 points and Daryn Hupp with 12.
St. Anthony was led by Miles Waldhoff with 20, Luis Gonzalez with 11 and Gabe Looman with 10.

At St. Elmo
Dieterich held St. Elmo/Brownstown scoreless in the opening quarter and opened up a 22-0 lead. The Maroons went on for a 62-25 victory Tuesday evening.
Landen Keck hit two three-pointers while Tanner Will scored five points, Jaxon Funneman and Lucas Westendorf had four each and Brock Niemerg tallied three in the opening quarter for Dieterich.
Dieterich then had a 17-8 second period to lead 39-18 at halftime. B. Niemerg hit a basket and was four of four at the line for six points while Braylon Williams hit a three-pointer.
Dieterich had a 21-7 third quarter behind 10 points from Westendorf and five from Funneman.
Three players finished in double figures for the Maroons. Westendorf led the way with seven field goals for 14 points while B. Niemerg added 13 and Funneman 11.
St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Lucas Powell with seven points on one field goal and five of five at the line. The Eagles dropped to 11-12 on the season.

At Flora
Altamont broke a 33-33 third quarter tie with Flora to edge the Wolves, 48-46 in a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening.
The Indians moved into a 10-7 opening quarter lead as Cooper McManaway and Kade Milleville connected for four points each.
Flora came back with a 13-10 second quarter to tie the score at 20-20 at hafltime.
The two teams played to a 13-13 third quarter and the score was tied at 33-33 going into the final period. Milleville scored six points in the third period for the Indians while McManaway added a three-pointer and Ben Roedl four points.
In the final period, Altamont went on a three-point run. Milleville hit a three-pointer, a regular basket and a free throw for six points while Parker Bell and McManaway connected on a three-pointer each and Roedl put in a regular basket and a free throw as the Indians had a 15-13 run to claim the victory.
Milleville hit 10 baskets in the game, three from beyond the arc, and was two of four at the line for 28 points. McManaway and Roedl tallied 10 points each. They were the only players to score in the game for Altamont. The Indians improved to 12-10 on the season.
Kyler Dennis led Flora with 15 points and Parker Helm added nine.
Altamont also claimed the junior varsity game by one point, 43-42.
Brayden Elam led the way with 13 points while Kaiden Wolff and Jacob Johnson added nine each.

At Pana
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg had a 15-6 final quarter to pull out a 48-45 non-conference win over Pana Tuesday.
The Panthers held a 14-9 opening quarter lead and led by that same five-point margin at halftime, 28-23.
Pana then had an 11-10 third quarter to lead 39-33.
That's when the Hatchets got going. Windsor/Stew-Stras went on a 15-6 run to pull out a 48-45 win.
Jackson Gurgel led the way for the winners with 14 points on five field goals, one a three-pointer, and three of three at the line. Brody Bible, Aiden Sayers and Tyler Vonderheide added seven points each.
Windsor/Stew-Stras improved to 14-12 on the season and is back in action Friday hosting Mulberry Grove at Windsor.
Pana won the junior varsity game, 59-42.

North Clay (Louisville) picked up a victory over Neoga, 77-44 Tuesday evening.
The Cardinals improved to 15-9 on the season and will be back in action Friday at Dieterich.
North Clay also claimed the junior varsity contest, 47-40 and a freshman/sophomore game, 30-29.
At Olney
Richland County played host to Effingham and handed the Hearts a 52-32 loss Tuesday evening.
Richland County edged out to an 11-5 opening quarter lead and led 21-13 at halftime. Effingham's Cannon Bockhone had five points in the opening half.
The Tigers came back with a 16-4 third quarter to lead 37-17 going into the final quarter.
Hallam led the way for the Tigers with 17 points while Thomann added 15 and Keller 13.
Effingham was led by KJ Kellams with three baskets and three free throws for nine points. Cannon Bockhorn chipped in with seven.

South Central played host to Webber Township (Bluford) and fell 63-58 in double overtime a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening.
The Cougars moved into a 22-20 halftime lead but Webber came back with a 16-12 third quarter to lead 36-34. South Central fought back with a 10-8 final quarter to knot the score at 43-43 sending the contest into overtime. Both teams tallied 10 points in the first overtime. Webber came back with a 9-4 final run as J. Marlow scored seven of those points, for the win.
South Central was led by Brody Markley with eight field goals and five of six at the line for 21. Westin Neilson added 17 and Callaway Smith 11.

Mulberry Grove held a 19-10 opening quarter lead and led 34-17 at halftime. The Aces then had a 30-29 second half.
Icenogle led the way for the aces with 22 while Hartmann added 11.
The Bobcats were led by Remington Howell with 13 points on four field goals, one a three-pointer, and four of seven at the line.
