Pirates Second In LPC Tourney, LIC Tournament Finals, BMD Beats T-town

ARCOLA -- Cumberland fell to Okaw Valley, 51-34 in the championship game of the Lincoln Prairie Conference Boys Basketball Tournament Friday.
The Pirates held an 8-5 opening quarter lead as Chase Stewart and Reed Miller connected on a three-pointer each. Cumberland had a 19-14 halftime lead. Kade McMechan hit a three-pointer and Cameron Roedl put in two baskets.
But Okaw Valley came out in the third quarter with a 16-6 run to lead 30-25. B. Montgomery hit a three-pointer and then came through with nine points in the final period as Okaw Valley had a 21-9 run to claim the win.
Cumberland was led by Roedl with 10 points on five field goals.
Okaw Valley was led by B. Montgomery with 16 points while W. Hildebrandt added 11 and C. George 10.
In the third place contest, Tri-County defeated Unity Christian, 67-60.
The consolation championship went to Argenta-Oreana over Heritage, 64-43.
Arcola won the fifth place game over Cerro Gordo/Bement, 48-34.

At Lawenceville
Lawrenceville won the championship of the Little Illini Conference Tournament Friday.
Lawrenceville defeated Richland County, 55-43.
The third place game went to Casey-Westfield over Paris, 63-36.
Marshall won the consolation championship over Newton, 55-49.
Mount Carmel was the seventh place finisher with a 58-45 victory over Robinson.
At Breese
Breese Mater Dei played host to Teutopolis Friday evening and edged the Wooden Shoes, 44-42.
Both teams tallied 11 points in the opening quarter. T-town moved into a 22-19 halftime lead.
Mater Dei came back with a 12-8 third quarter to move ahead 31-30 then had a 13-12 final period.
Alex Kremer led T-town with 14 points on five field goals, one a three-pointer and three of three at the line. Mick Niebrugge added 12.
In junior varsity play, T-town was a 53-38 winner. Jason Kreke scored 14 for the Shoes while Gavin Buening added 10.
