Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Regionals -- Jan. 29-30

TEUTOPOLIS -- The Wooden Shoes of Teutopolis won their own Class 7-3A Boys Basketball Regional Thursday evening.

T-town handed Robinson Nuttall a 49-43 loss.

Nuttall took an 11-7 opening quarter lead but T-town came back to tie the score at 23-23 at halftime.

The Shoes then moved into a 37-29 lead in the third quarter and held off Nuttall in the final period.

Connor Althoff led T-town with 16 points while Kason Meyer added 12.

T-town improved to 24-2.

The Shoes advance to their own sectional Monday, February 3 against Paris Mayo at 6:30 p.m. Paris Mayo was the winner of its own regional Thursday with a 36-22 victory over Sidell Salt Fork.

Class 7-2A Hutsonville Regional

Stewardson-Strasburg captured the championship of the Hutsonville Regional Thursday evening.

Stew-Stras defeated Casey-Westfield 32-24.

Stew-Stras now advances to the St. Elmo Sectional Monday, Feb. 3 and will meet Effingham St. Anthony at 6:30 p.m. 

St. Anthony had won its own regional Wednesday by beating St. Elmo/Brownstown, 36-15.

Effingham Sacred Heart won the Sigel  St. Michael Regional.

Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional

Effingham Sacred Heart held a 29-12 halftime lead and never looked back in a 52-27 win over Sigel St. Michael to win the St. Michael Regional Wednesday.

The Shamrocks were led by Gabe Traub with 24 points and Bryce Hayes with 13.

Burton led St. Michael with 10 points.

The Shamrocks advance to face Altamont Lutheran who won the Mulberry Grove Regional Wednesday by edging East St. Louis Younge, 38-37.

Sacred Heart and Altamont Lutheran will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3.
