Newton Falls in 5th Place Game of the LIC Tournament

It was a close battle throughout the night but Marshall was able to walk away with a 55-49 victory over Newton in the 5th place game of the LIC tournament played at Lawrenceville. 

The contest was tied after the first quarter at 10, but the Lions outscored the Eagles by five in the second quarter for a 24-19 lead at the half.

Newton outscored Marshall by the slim margin of 11-10. However Marshall put up 21 to Newton's 19 in the final quarter for the 55-49 victory.

Kody Bergbower paced Newton with 19 points, Hayden Mulvey was also in double figures with 15. Jacob Oldham and Drew Earnest chipped in with 4 points each. Lance Volk added 3 points, while Quincy Fulton finished out the scoring with 2 points for the Eagles.

Newton falls to 7 wins and 14 losses on the season and will return to action Tuesday at Teutopolis.
