Hearts Win, Maroons, Cougars Drop Girls Basketball Losses.

The Hearts ran out to a 10-4 opening quarter lead on Newton. Alyssa Martin hit two baskets and a free throw for five to lead the Hearts.
In the second quarter, EHS had a 9-5 run to lead 19-9 at halftime. EHS' Averie Wolfe connected on two three throws, a three-pointer and a regular basket for seven.
Newton came back with a 17-14 third quarter run but still trailed 36-23 heading into the final period.Camryn Martin connected on two three-pointers for the Eagles while Alile Hermann hit a three.
EHS was led by Martin with five, Sidney Donaldson with four and Bella Austin with a three-pointer.
EHS finished out with a 12-8 final period as Saige Althoff scored five.
Martin was the lone player for the Hearts in double figures with 12 on four field goals and four of eight at the line. Wolfe finished with nine and Donaldson eight.
Coach Jeff Schafer's crew improved to 19-5 on the season.
Newton was led by K. Martin with 11 on five field goals, one a three-pointer. C. Martin pulled down 10 rebounds. Addy O'Dell and C. Martin had two assists each. O'Dell led in steals with three.
The Eagles fall to 16-6 on the season and are back in action Thursday at Neoga.
In the junior varsity contest, Effingham won 65-37.
EHS was led by Maci Hayes with 18 and Tessa Raddatz with 10. Malia Wendling and McKenzie Love tallied eight each.
The Eagles were led by Alani Bergbower with 15 and Maddie Brummer with seven.

At Dieterich
Sullivan came calling and picked up a 51-34 victory over Dieterich in Tuesday evening action.
Sullivan edged out to an 11-10 openig quarter lead then pushed into a 25-15 halftime tally.
Dieterich came back with a 13-9 third quarter run to trail 34-28 going into the final period but Sullivan got back in gear with a 17-6 run.
Addison Miller was the lone Maroons player in double figures with 10. She hit three field goals, two from three-point range and was two of four at the line. Miller also led in rebounds with seven.
Kady Tegeler and Sammi Goebel scored eight points each. Tegeler, S. Goebel, Brittney Niemerg and Callie Faller finished with two assists each. Tegeler had seven steals.

Ramsey tallied a 44-30 victory over South Central in Tuesday evening play.
The Rams edged out to a 6-2 opening quarter lead and led 21-15 at halftime.
South Central's Baylee Brown put in eight of her team's 13 points in the second quarter while Percilla Reid hit a three-pointer.
But Ramsey had a 9-4 third quarter to lead 30-19 going into the final period.
The Rams were led by Keli Cook and Jeni Mezzo with 12 points each.
South Central was led by Kaitlyn Swift with 11 on four field goals, one a three-pointer, and two of three at the line. Brown ended with eight.
