Dieterich Beats EHS, St. Anthony Downs Flora

Jude Traub went on a run in the opening quarter, leading the Hearts out to an 11-7 lead by knocking in three baskets from beyond the arc and a regular bucket for all 11 of their points.
EHS still maintained control in the second quarter with a 12-7 tally to lead 23-14 at halftime. Jake Niebrugge scored four points while Cannon Bockhorn put in a three-pointer.
The Marroons came out in the second half determined to take control and they did.
Lucas Westendorf and Brock Niemerg hit a three-pointer each while Westendorf added a regular basket and Tanner Will put in six of six at the line. The Maroons pulled within 32-28.
Dieterich kept that momentum rolling with a 21-10 final quarter to claim the victory.
The Maroons put in nine of 13 from the free throw line while Bryce Bohnhoff connected for four baskets and Westendorf added another two buckets. Tanner Will hit six of six from the line.
Westendorf finished in double figures for Dieterich. He hit five baskets, one from three-point range, and was one of two at the line for 12 points. Will finished with 11 points as he was dead-on from the free throw line with 11 of 12. Niemerg ended with nine.
Effingham was led by Traub with six field goals, four from beyond the arc, and two free throws for 18. Max Flack finished with seven.

At Flora
Effingham St. Anthony traveled to Flora and came home with a 59-42 victory Tuesday evneing.
Ryan Schmidt went on an opening quarter run to get the Bulldogs headed towards the win. Schmidt hit four baskets, one from three-point range, and was two of two at the line for 11 points. Brock Fearday connected on two three-pointers.
Flora came back with a 9-7 second period behind Dennis' seven points. The Wolves trailed 28-17 at halftime.
But the Bulldogs got back on the scoring track with an 18 point run in the third quarter. B. Fearday hit two more three-pointers and one regular basket for eight in the period while Keenan Griffith scored five points.
Schmidt continued on with his scoring in the final quarter with eight points on three baskets and two of two at the line. He finished with 26 to lead the Bulldogs. Schmidt connected on nine field goals, one a three-pointer and was a perfect seven of seven at the line.
Also in double figures were B. Fearday with 19 on seven field goals, five of those three-pointers, and Griffith with 10.
St. Anthony was a 51-36 winner in the junior varsity contest. Miles Waldhoff finished with 16 points while Will Bierman chipped in with 14.
