Cumberland Advances At LPC Girls Tourney, Highland, Little Illini Scores

The Pirates handed Argenta-Oreana a 42-34 loss. They ran out to an 11-4 first quarter lead and led 28-16 at halfitme.
Argenta-Oreana came back with an 18-14 second half run but couldn't make up that first half tally by the Pirates.
Jude Miller led the Pirates with 19 points on four field goals and nine free throws. She connected on two three-pointers. Alysa Dittamore scored six for the winners.
Argenta-Oreana was led by Emelyn Roberts with 16.
In other games Monday, Sullivan beat Unity Christian, 46-21; Heritage won over Tri-County, 58-51, Arcola downed Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, 48-37, Cerro Gordo/Bement won over Blue Ridge, 51-35 and Okaw Valley defeated Villa Grove, 49-15.
Cumberland will meet Arcola at 7:30 p.m. Thursday while Sullivan takes on Heritage at 6 p.m. The winners of these two games advance to the championship Saturday at 7 p.m. while the losers will play for third place at 5:30 p.m.
Cerro Gordo/Bement and Villa Grove will square off for the consolation championship at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

At Highland
The Highland Tournament continued Monday evening with four games.
In winner bracket action, Breese Central downed Edwardsville 48-28 while O'Fallon won over Highland 53-47.
In consolation bracket play, Chatham Glenwood downed Waterloo 50-23 and Carlyle won over Okawville 40-24.
Tonight's games include Teutopolis meeting Nashville at 7 p.m. and Bethalto Civic Memorial against Breese Mater Dei at 8:30 p.m. in winner bracket play.
In consolation bracket action, Collinsville will meet Triad at 4 p.m. and Centralia takes on Belleville East at 5:30 p.m.
At Olney
Two games were contested at the Little Illini Conference Tournament Monday evening.
Olney was a 56-24 winner over Lawrenceville.
In the second contest, Marshall edged Casey-Westfield, 32-27.
The tournament continues tonight as Mount Carmel and Robinson meet at 6 p.m. followed by Newton against Paris at 7:30 in winner bracket action.
