Dieterich, WSS Are Winners In CIC/NTC Girls Tourney, LIC Tourney Scores

Dieterich claimed a 54-27 victory in the opener. The Maroons held a 14-9 opening quarter lead and led 34-15 at halftime.
Three players scored in double figures for Dieterich. Brittney Niemerg led the way with five field goals and four of four at the line for 14 points while Addison Miller hit seven field goals, also for 14. Kady Tegeler chipped in with 12.
Niemerg and Miller pulled down eight rebounds each. Niemerg led in steals with six and had one blocked shot. Tegeler led in assists with four.
In the second contest Father McGivney won over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 45-31.
Neoga fell to Warrensburg-Latham, 56-46.
Warrensburg-Latham stepped out to a 21-14 opening quarter lead and led 33-24 at halftime. Neoga came back with a 14-9 third quarter run to pull within 42-38 but the winners had a 14-8 final period.
Brynn Richards led Neoga with 20 points on seven field goals and six of six at the line. Atalie Osborn added 16 points on four field goals and eight of 11 at the line.
Negoa falls to 10-11 and returns to action in the National Trail Conference Tournament today against Altamont at 1 p.m.
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg then bounced Central A&M by a 61-48 tally.
Meridian won over North Clay 42-37 and Tuscola edged Altamont 32-31.

Little Illini Conference Tournament
Newton was a big winner at the Little Illini Conference Girls Basketball Tournament at Richland County High School Saturday.
In the opening contest, Mount Carmel beat Lawrenceville 58-26. Robinson edged Olney, 56-53. Paris was a 59-24 winner over Casey-Westfield.
In the final game of the day, Newton trounced Marshall, 51-18.
The tournament continues today as Lawrenceville meets Olney at 6 p.m. and Casey-Westfield faces Marshall at 7:30.
Mount Carmel faces Robinson at 6 p.m. Tuesday and Newton takes on Paris at 7:30.
