North Clay, Dieterich Win In Boys H.S. Basketball

COWDEN -- North Clay (Louisville) handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a 80-34 loss in National Trail Conference boys basketball play Monday evening.

The Cardinals ripped out to a 22-4 opening quarter lead and put this contest away early. North Clay led 47-20 at halftime.

Three players hit double figures for the winners. Cody Zimdars led the way with 10 field goals and three free throws for 23 points. Mason Byers chipped in with 19 and Carder Walden added 18.

The Bobcats were led by Griffin Vaughn with eight points. Hunter Pope and AJ Radloff added seven each.

At Dieterich

Dieterich held a 16-6 opening quarter lead and then held a 26-21 second half to down Patoka, 50-40 Monday evening.

Landen Keck hit two regular baskets and two three-pointers in that opening quarter run for 10 points.

Patoka came back with a 13-8 second period to pull within 24-19 at halftime and had a slight 17-16 third quarter to move within four points going into the final quarter.

Dieterich then connected on its free throws, hitting 10 of 14 in the final period and did not have a basket.

Four players finished in double digits for the Maroons. Keck led the way with six field goals, half of those three-pointers, and two of two at the line for 17. Jaxon Funneman added 11 while Brock Niemerg and Lucas Westendorf added 10 each.
