Wooden Shoes Edge Sages In Boys H.S. Basketball

MONTICELLO -- Teutopolis High School edged Monticello, 41-37 in high school boys basketball action Wednesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 15-11 opening quarter lead and led 24-17 at halftime.

T-town led 34-26 going into the final quarter. The Sages made a comeback bid only to fall short.

The Shoes hit 45.5 percent from the field and were 56.3 percent at the line for the contest.

Two players finished in double figures. Mick Niebrugge led the way with 15 points on five field goals, one a three-pointer, and four of seven at the line. Drew Hoene chipped in with 12. Alex Kremer led in assists with three and steals with three. Hoene had one blocked shot.

Monticello was led by Carter Foran with 13 points. Ike Young pulled down six rebounds.

The Shoes are now 11-4 on the season while Monticello dropped to 6-8.

In junior varsity play, Teutopolis won 75-51.

The Shoes were led by Landyn Buening with 23 points, Davin Worman with 10 and Jason Kreke with 10.
