KNIGHTSTOWN, IND. -- South Central High School's boys basketball team handed Sandoval a 63-50 loss at the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown, Indiana Saturday.

The Cougars trailed Sandoval 12-8 after the opening quarter and 32-26 at halftime. South Central then had a 28-13 third quarter run and outscored the Blackhawks 9-7 in the final period.

Westin Neilson led the way for South Central with 20 points on seven field goals, six of those from beyond the arc. Also in double digits were Callaway Smith with 12 and Jalen Smith with 12.

Sandoval was led by T. Adams with 16 and D. Gore with 10.

At Knightstown

At Grayville

St. Elmo/Brownstown trailed Grayville 32-27 at halftime but came back with a 51-29 second half to win 78-61 Saturday.

Three players hit double digits for St. Elmo/Brownstown. Graiden Wilhour and Lowell Wilhour scored 23 points each. G. Wilhour hit six field goals, two from three-point range and was nine of 11 from the free throw line. L. Wilhour connected on three field goals, one a three-pointer, and was 18 of 20 at the free throw line. Vadim Plum added 13 points. 

L. Wilhour pulled down 10 rebounds. Plum had four assists. G. Wilhour and Plum had three steals each.

St. Elmo/Brownstown connected on a whopping 38 of 47 free throws.

At Hillsboro

Hillsboro edged Altamont by a 67-63 count in Friday evening action in overtime.

The Hiltoppers edged out to a 16-12 opening quarter lead as T. White scored nine points and N. Matoush five.

Altamont was led by Cooper McManaway with five points.

Kade Milleville took over the scoring in the second quarter with five field goals, two from three-point range, and a free throw for 13 of the team's 16 points. Parker Bell hit a three-pointer.

Hillsboro held a 41-36 lead after the third quarter but Altamont came roaring back with an 18-13 final period run as Kade Milleville hit for six points and the score was tied at 54-54 sending the contest into overtime.

In the overtime period, HIllsboro hit three baskets and was seven of 11 from the free throw line to pull out the 67-63 win.

Matoush finished with 31 points for the winners while White added 22.

Altamont was led by Milleville with 10 field goals, two of those from three-point range, and four of seven at the line for 26 points. McManaway ended with 10 points.

Altamont captured the junior varsity win, 56-37. Jacob Johnson scored 16 and Brayden Elam 15 for the winners.

At Shelbyville

Shelbyville played host to Neoga and sent the Indians home with a 53-37 loss Friday evening.

The Rams ran out to an 18-7 opening quarter lead and led 32-14 at halftime.

J. Jokisch finished with 24 points to lead Shelbyville while M. Hammond added 12 and D. Beyers 11.

Neoga was led by Luke Keller with 14 on four three-pointers and two of two at the line. Gavin Ray added 11.

Okaw Valley trailed Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at halftime but had a big scoring second half to claim a 68-55 victory Saturday.

Windsor/Stew-Stras held a 14-12 opening quarter lead and led 31-26 at halftime.

Okaw Valley moved within 39-35 going into the final quarter and had a 23-16 final period run to claim the victory.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Jackson Gurgel with six field goals, three of those three-pointers, and five of six at the line for 20 points. Kendal Morris finished with 10.

The Hatchets are now 9-8 on the season.

Windsor/Stew-Stras tallied a 66-38 win in junior varsity action.

Charleston played host to Newton and downed the Eagles home 70-49 in Saturday action.

The Trojans moved into a 20-14 opening quarter lead but Newton pulled wtihin 32-28 at halftime.

Charleston then had a 38-21 second half run.

Hayden Mulvey led Newton with 21 points on eight field goals, five from three-point range. Kody Bergbower chipped in with 12.

Quincy Fulton led the Eagles in rebounds with eight.

Newton drops to 5-10 on the season.

The Eagles claimed the junior varsity win.

At Charleston
