Altamont Boys Fourth At Sesser-Valier, Neoga Competed At Monticello, Cumberland, WSS To Finish Play Today

In a Friday contest, Goreville was a 66-47 winner over Altamont to advance to the championship contest.
Goreville took a 21-15 opening quarter lead but Altamont came back on three baskets by Ben Roedl to pull within 30-28 at halftime.
Goreville then had a 17-13 third period run to lead by six going into the final quarter and outscored the Indians 19-6 for the win.
Altamont had three players finish in double figures. Roedl led the way with seven field goals and three of eight at the line for 17. Kade Milleville added 12 and Cooper McManaway 10.
Altamont then took on DuQuoin for third place and fell 71-57 to finish fourth.
DuQuoin held a 16-12 opening quarter lead and led 30-26 at halftime. DuQuoin then had a 40-31 second half.
Two players finished in double figures for the Indians. K. Milleville led with 10 field goals, two from three-point range, for 22 points. Roedl added 10.
Goreville was leading Waltonville 42-31 in the championship contest but it was suspended in the third quarter due to a Goreville player being injured.
The consolation championship went to New Athens over Marissa Coulterville 68-56. Seventh place went to Red Bud over Sesser-Valier 58-49.

At Monticello
Neoga competed in the Monticello Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament.
Tuscola won the championship over Clinton, 43-37. Third place went to Monticello over Paxton/Buckley-Loda 42-34.
Fifth place was taken by Gibson City/Melvin-Sibley over Oakwood, 79-72.
Ridgeview downed Neoga 55-46 in the seventh place contest.
At Vandalia
Cumberland will be playing for third place at the Vandalia Tournament today.
In Friday action, Cumberland fell to Shelbyville, 69-48.
In other Friday games, Okaw Valley beat Nokomis 65-36, Vandalia won over Mulberry Grove 62-55, Flora downed Shelbyville 48-43, Nokomis beat Macon Meridian 47-42, Greenville defeated Pana 44-31 and Vandalia won over Flora 62-43.
In Saturday play, Okaw Valley edged Macon Meridian 68-65, Flora beat Mulberry Grove 63-54, Okaw Valley downed Pana 74-66, Cumberland beat Mulberry Gove 55-22 and Greenville handed Nokomis a 52-50 loss.
Today' action includes:
Macon Meridian vs.Mulberry Grove, 2 p.m. for ninth place. Nokomis vs. Flora, 3:30 p.m. for seventh place, Pana vs. Vandalia, 5 p.m. for fifth place, Cumberland against Okaw Valley, 6:30 p.m. or third place and Greenville vs. Shelbyville at 8 p.m. for the championship.
At Kansas
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg won twice and dropped a loss in Friday and Saturday action at the Tri-County Holiday Tournament.
In Friday play, Windsor/Stew-Stras downed Paris 63-51 led by Manhart with 25 points on eight field goals, seven of those three-pointers, and two free throws. Gracey chipped in with 11 while Gurgel added 10.
Paris took a 22-12 opening quarter lead but the Hatchets came roaring back with a 20-9 run to lead 32-31 at halftime. They finished out with an 18-6 final quarter.
In the second Friday contest, Westville was a 57-42 winner over the Hatchets. Westville moved into a 28-22 halftime lead and had an 11-4 final quarter surge.
Jackson Gurgel led the Hatchets as the lone player in double figures with 24 on eight field goals, two of those three-pointers and six of seven at the line.
In other Friday games, Westville defeated Martinsviille 48-42, Tri-County bounced Chrisman 70-35, Martinsville defeated Chrisman 69-45 and Paris downed Tri-County 58-30.
In Saturday play, Windsor/Stew-Stras beat Martinsville 68-42.
The Hatchets ripped out to a 23-9 opening quarter lead and never looked back.
Gurgel scored 28 points on 10 field goals, four of those three-pointers, and four of four at the line. Also in double figures was Morris with 11.
Paris won over Chrisman 75-37 and Westville beat Tri-County 67-50.
