Dieterich, Vandalia Boys Basketball Tournament Games

Dieterich opened the day with a 64-40 win over Grayville. The Maroons ripped out to an 18-3 opening quarter lead and led 43-18 at halftime.
The Maroons had three players hit double figures. Lucas Westendorf led the way with seven field goals, two of those from three-point range and one of two at the line. Jaxon Funneman added 15 points and Landon Keck finished with 13.
In the second contest, Red Hill (Bridgeport) downed Ramsey, 72-35.
South Central then tallied a 64-31 victory over Grayville.
The Cougars held a 28-11 halftime lead and had a 36-10 second half run.
Westin Nelson led the way with 22 points on eight field goals, six of those from beyond the arc. Also in double figures was Seth Bergmann with 10.
Arcola was then a 71-20 winner over Ramsey followed by Sullivan downing Red HIll (Bridgeport), 72-44.
Dieterich then finished the evening with a 66-40 victory over National Trail Conference opopnent Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 66-40.
The Maroons held a 37-20 halftime lead. CHBC came back with a 13-9 third period to pull within 46-33. But the Maroons got back on track with a 20-7 final period.
Westendorf finished with his second double figure performance at the tourney with 25 points. He connected on nine field goals and was seven of 10 at the line.
CHBC was led by Wyatt Rueff with 11 points.
Dieterich and South Central are back in action again today and against each other in the final game of the evening at 7 p.m.

At Vandalia
Cumberland claimed a victory and suffered a loss at the Vandalia Tournament Thursday evening.
The Pirates played in the second game of the day against Flora and fell to the Wolves, 49-42.
Flora stepped out to a 17-11 opening quarter lead as K. Dennis hit for eight points.
Chase Stewart and Kaleb Bierman put in a three-pointer each for the Pirates while Kade McMechan had four.
Flora led 33-24 at halftime and 44-35 going into the final quarter.
Cumberland had three players finish in double figures. C. Stewart led the way with 12 points on four three-pointers. Cameron Roedl added 11 points.
The Pirates then took on Vandalia and tallied a 49-38 win.
Vandalia ran out to an 11-4 opening quarter lead but Cumberland fought back with a 16-8 second period to move ahead 20-19 at halftime.
The Pirates then had a 10-6 third quarter and finished with a 14-13 final edge.
Cameron Roedl led the way with 19 points on five field goals, two from three-point range, and seven of eight at the line. He was the lone Cumberland player in double figures.
In other games, Pana edged Macon Meridian 58-54, Greenville downed Oka w Valley 59-34, Shelbyville pounded Mulberry Grove 70-38, Pana handed Nokomis a 53-36 loss and Greenville beat Macon Meridian 55-40.
Cumberland will be back in action today in the final game, taking on Shelbyville at 8 p.m.
