Shoes Tally Victory Over Hearts, Area Boys Roundup

The Wooden Shoes edged out to an 11-9 opening quarter lead as four players scored in the contest. Gavin Addis connected on a three-pointer while Alex Kremer hit a basket and was two of two at the line.
Effingham's Jude Traub nailed a three-pointer and Ethan Jones added four points.
The Hearts continued on with a 16-12 second quarter run to take a 25-23 lead at halftime. The gymnasium was raining three-pointers for the Hearts as Traub, Jake Niebrugge, Cannon Bockhorn and KJ Kellams went beyond the arc.
T-town remained close as Drew Hoene scored eight of his team's 10 points.
But the bottom fell out as the Hearts hit only one of 10 from the field in the third quarter and T-town went on a seven of 10 run to move ahead 42-27.
The Wooden Shoes continued on with a 14-7 final quarter, hitting eight of 12 from the free throw line.
Two players scored 16 points each for the Shoes. Kremer hit five field goals, one from three-point range, and was five of eight at the line while Hoene connected on five field goals and was five of six at the line.
T-town shot 18 of 42 from the field for 42.9 percent and was 15 of 24 at the line. The Shoes pulled down 32 rebounds.
The Hearts were led by Niebrugge and Traub with eight points each. Niebrugge hit three of seven from the field and one of one at the line while Traub connected on three of seven from the field with two three-pointers.
The Hearts hit 14 of 43 field goals for 32.5 percent and one of four at the free throw line. They had 21 turnovers compared to 13 for T-town. The Shoes pulled down 32 rebounds to 24 for the Hearts.
T-town improved to 6-2 on the season while the Hearts dropped to 3-8. T-town is back in action Saturday at the Sullivan Shootout vs. Pinckneyville.
The Hearts are back in competition Friday against Charleston.
In the junior varsity contest, Teutopolis was a 43-37 winner. The Shoes were led by Davin Worman and Jason Kreke with nine points each.
Effingham was led by Jaxon Bridges with nine and Brady McDaniel with eight.

At Newton
Four players hit double figures as Effingham St. Anthony handed Newton a 65-37 non-conference loss Tuesday evening.
The Bulldogs edged out to a 14-10 opening quarter lead as Sam Link connected on five points and Keenan Griffth and Will Fearday hit a three-pointer each.
St. Anthony held a 29-18 halftime lead. Miles Waldhoff scored five points in the quarter on a three-pointer and two free throws while W. Fearday and Ryan Schmidt hit a three-pointer each.
The lead went to 51-31 at the end of the third quarter. St. Anthony had a 22-13 run as Brock Fearday and W. Fearday tallied five points each and Link chipped in with four.
Lance Volk scored seven of his team's 13 third quarter points on two regular baskets and a three-pointer.
But the Bulldogs continued on with a 14-6 final period run.
Four players finished in double figures for the Buklldogs. W. Fearday had 13 on five field goals, three from beyond the arc. Griffith chipped in with 12 while Waldhoff and Link added 11 each. Schmidt and B. Fearday tallied eight points each.
Newton was led by Volk with 12 on five field goals, two of those three-pointers.
In the junior varsity contest, Newton was a 49-37 winner. The Eagles were led by Jacob Oldham with 23 points.
St. Anthony was led by Gabe Looman with eight points.

At Dieterich
Dieterich took the early lead and captured a 54-42 non-conference victory over Lawrenceville Tuesday evening.
The Movin' Maroons held an 11-6 opening quarter lead as Lucas Westnedorf scored two baskets. The lead went to 21-15 at halftime. Landen Keck nailed two baskets and was two of two as the line in the quarter for six points. Ezra Cook chipped in with four.
Westendorf took over again in the third quarter, connecting on two baskets and was four of four at the line for eight points while Brock Niemerg hit a three-pointer and two free throws.
The Maroons finished out with 12 of 16 from the free throw line in the final quarter and held off Lawrencevile.
Westendorf hit five field goals and was six of six at the line to lead Dieterich with 16 points. Keck chipped in with 11.

South Central edged Woodlawn in a non-conference matchup, 53-49.
The Cougars edged out to a 13-12 opening quarter lead and led 20-16 at halftime. South Central had an 18-11 third quarter to lead 38-27 and held off Woodlawn in the final period.
Westin Neilson led the way for the Cougars with 25 points on eight field goals, six of those three-pointers and three of six at the line. Also in double digits was Callaway Smith with 10.

Casey-Westfield edged Neoga in a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening, 49-40.
Neoga held a 9-7 opening quarter lead behind Luke Keller's six points.
But Casey-Westfield came back with a 15-8 second period run to lead 22-17 at halftime. Clement tallied five points and Parcel four.
the Warriors continued on with another 15 points in the third period to lead 37-26. Parcel went on a tear, scoring three baskets and three free thrwos for nine of the tea's 15 points.
Neoga finished with a 14-12 final quarter but coudln't overtome the 37-26 deficit. Brayden Ray scored a basket and was two of two at the line for six points while Landon Titus hit a three-pointer and a reuglar basket for five and Keller added at hree.
Gavin Ray finished with 12 points to lead the way on six field goals. B. Ray chipped in with 11 and Keller added nine.

Kade Milleville was the lone Altamont player in double figures with 18. He connected on eight field goals, two from three-point range.
Parker Bell added eight for Altamont.
In the junior varsity contest. Carlyle claimed a 70-38 victory.
Leading Altamont were Jacob Johnson with 12 and Carson Milleville with 11.

Edwards County (Albion) easily won over Cisne, 49-15.
Crab Orchard won on a forfeit over Lovejoy.
Sandoval edged Wayne City, 71-69.
Action continues tonight as Sandoval meets Thompsonville at 5:30, Webber Township takes on Edwards County at 7 and Wayne City meets Grayville at 8:30.
