EHS, Altamont Drop Boys Saturday Basketball Losses, North Clay Wins

Mount Vernon came calling Saturday and picked up a 61-25 win over Effingham in a non-conference boys basketball contest.

The Rams edged out to a 15-9 opening quarter lead then put the game away with a 20-2 second period run to lead 35-11 at halftime.

Mount Vernon came out with an 18-2 third quarter.

Effingham was led by KJ Kellams with eight points on two three-pointers and two regular baskets.

At Casey

Casey-Westfield played host to Altamont and claimed a 64-46 non-conference victory Saturday.

The Warriors tore out to an 18-7 opening quarter lead and led 34-17 at halftime.

Altamont pulled within 48-38 going into the final quarter with a 21-14 third quarter run but Casey-Westfield came back with a 16-8 final period.

Casey-Westfield's Hayden Parcel finished with 41 points on 16 field goals, two from three-point range, and seven of nine at the line. Leighton Jones added 10.

Altamont was led by Kade Milleville with 20 points on eight field goals, one a three-pointer, and three of four at the line. Also in double digits was Zaine Miller with 12.

Casey-Westfield won the junior varsity contest, 56-24.

Altamont was led by Calvin Bannister with nine.

At Wayne City

The 70th Annual Conrad Allen Holiday Tournament got underway Saturday.

Norht Clay handed Grayville an 84-56 loss.

Webber Township (Bluford) downed Crab Orchard 72-57.

Wayne City was a 63-38 winner over Thompsonville.

Lovejoy was to play Cisne at noon and Edwards County (Albion) at 4:30 but forfeited both contests.
