The finals are set for the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament after Tuesday evening games.

South Central handed Effingham Sacred Heart a 38-32 loss while Stewardson-Strasburg won over Sigel St. Michael, 43-17.

South Central and Stew-Stras will now meet Thursday for the championship at 8 p.m.

Sacred Heart and Sigel St. Michael will square off for third place at 6:45 p.m.

Altamont and St. Elmo/Brownstown will meet at 5:30 for the consolation championship.

 

At Neoga

Neoga and Martinsville split junior high basketball victories Tuesday evening.

Neoga won the seventh-grade contest 28-13 by running out to an 11-2 opening quarter lead and finishing strong with an 8-1 tally.

Baylor Matusas led the way for the winners with 14 points while Liam Kenworthy added eight.

In the eighth-grade contest, Martinsville won 37-33. The two teams played to a 6-6 opening quarter tie before Martinsville moved ahead 17-13 at halftime then put the game away with a 15-3 final quarter.

Neoga's comeback in the final quarter 17-5 run fell just short.

Brody Strobl led the way with 15 points while Jude Finney added eight.

At Olney

Teutopolis picked up two victories over Olney in Tuesday evening action.

The Wooden Shoes ripped out to a 16-4 opening quarter lead in the seventh-grade contest and had a 20-6 final half for a 44-12 victory over Olney

Althoff and Giles led the way with nine points each.

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town won 50-25. Once again the Shoes tore out to a big opening quarter lead, 13-2 and led 23-4 at halftime.

S. Probst scored 18 to lead the Shoes.
