BSE, EHS, T-town Capture Girls H.S. Basketball Wins

BLUFORD -- Brownstown/St. Elmo was a winner in the lone area girls high school basketball game Friday.

The Bombers downed Webber Township (Bluford), 61-32.

BSE stepped out to a 20-11 opening quarter lead as Dayana Haslett connected on three regular baskets, a free throw and a three-pointer for 10 of her team's 22 points.

Haslett continued on with eight more points in the second period as the Bombers held a 36-19 halftime lead. Also stepping up the scoring was Madi Miller with seven points.

Haslett finished with 28 points in the win. She connected on 10 field goals, one from three-point range, and was five of seven at the line. Miller added 15 points on six field goals and three of four at the line. Presley Wililams and Addie Sasse chipped in with seven points each.

In the junior varsity contest, Webber Township edged Brownstown/St. Elmo, 17-15.

BSE was led by Audria Logue with six points.

Saturday Games

At Effingham

Effingham tore out to a 21-9 opening quarter lead and claimed a 62-21 victory over North Clay (Louisville) Saturday.

The Hearts' Alyssa Martin and Sidney Donaldson went on runs in the opening quarter. Martin finished with 10 points while Donaldson added seven.

EHS held a 36-12 halftime lead. Averie Wolfe took over the scoring duties in the second quarter with nine points on four baskets that included a three-pointer.

The Hearts had a 12-5 third period run. Wolfe added to her total with six more points and finished with 15 to lead the Hearts. Martin added 14 points.

Donaldson finished with nine and My Harvey eight.

North Clay was led by Matia Price with 14 on five field goals, three from beyond the arc, and one free throw.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis played host to Richland County, Olney and claimed a 47-33 victory.

The Wooden Shoes and Tigers played to a 7-7 opening quarter. Allie Ruholl knocked in a three-pointer and Chloe Probst and Molly Ruholl added a basket each.

Olney moved into a 20-16 halftime lead as Aliyah Flittner scored nine points.

But T-town came out after halftime and put the game away with a 19-4 run. C. Probst hit a three-pointer, a regular basket and was three of four at the line for eight points while M. Ruholl aded five. Eva Mette finished with four points and Kelsey Niemerg was two of two at the line.

The Shoes ended with a 12-9 final quarter as Niemerg scored four points and M. Ruholl put in a three-pointer.

Probst led the way for T-town with 16 points on five field goals, one from three-point range, and five of eight at the line. Also in double figures was M. Ruholl with 10. Niemerg chipped in with eight.

C. Probst and Mette led in rebounds with eight each.
