NTC Seventh-Grade Tournament, Regular Season -- Dec. 6-7 Results

The National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament got underway Friday at Sigel St. Michael.

In Friday action, North Clay handed Neoga a 31-21 loss. Neoga edged out to a 4-1 opening quarter lead but North Clay came back with a 16-7 second quarter to lead 17-11 halftime lead and went on for the win.

North Clay had two players in double figures. Robey and Snell scored 10 points each.

Neoga was led by Baylor Matusas with 13.

In the second game, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City handed Dieterich a 54-29 loss.

CHBC took a 15-6 first quarter lead and opened that up to 32-15 at halftime.

Drake Thull scored 15 while Lane Reed added 10 for the winners.

Dieterich was led by Swingler with nine.

In the third game of the evening, Sigel St. Michael pounded Windsor, 36-6.

In Saturday games, Sacred Heart won over North Clay, 52-35 while South Central downed Altamont 46-29.

Stewardson-Strasburg handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a 52-29 loss. Stew-Stras ripped out to a 19-6 opening quarter lead and led 31-16 at halftime.

Three players scored in double figures for the winner. Pruemer and Richter led the way with 14 points each while Duncan added 11.

Thull led CHBC with 14 points and Reed added nine.

St. Michael claimed a 34-17 win over St. Elmo/Brownstown.

The tournament continues tonight as North Clay faces Altamont at 6 p.m. and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and St. Elmo/Brownstown clash at 7:15. Both games are in consolation bracket play.

At Olney

Effingham St. Anthony claimed two regular season victories over Olney in Saturday action.

In the seventh-grade contest, St. Anthony was a 30-19 winner. The Bullpups trailed Olney, 9-5 after the opening quarter but came back with a 9-2 run to lead 14-11 at halftime.

St. Anthony was led by J. Having with nine points.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony claimed a 38-10 victory.

The Bullpups held an 18-5 halftime lead and had a 14-1 third quarter run.

B. Baudier and S. Looman scored eight points each to lead the Bullpups.
