Junior High Boys Basketball -- Dec. 2 Results

Effingham Junior High School was a winner in both seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball competition Monday evening.

Deek Thompson connected for 31 points as the seventh-graders were a 56-15 winner over Dieterich.

Thompson hit 15 field goals, one a three-pointer, for his 31 points. Calvin Beck chipped in with seven.

Dieterich was led by Swingler with seven.

In the eighth-grade contest, Effingham won 46-12.

The Mustangs held a 24-7 halftime lead. Two players hit double figures with eight scoring in the game. Kaden Rohr tallied 13 points on six field goals, one a three-pointer. Bryden Kade chipped in with 10.

Dieterich was led by Rylan McQueen with four points.

At Effingham

Effingham St .Anthony claimed two victories over Jasper County Monday evening.

The Bullpups improved to 8-4 on the season with a 43-20 seventh-grade victory.

St. Anthony held a 20-6 halftime lead. P. Phillips led the way with 10 points.

Jasper County was led by Jacob Guzman with eight.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony won 48-8.

The Bullpups held a 24-0 halftime lead. B. Verdeyen finished with 15 points for the winners. St.  Anthony improved to 11-1.

Jasper County was led by Preston Harris, Brendan Emmerich, Jaxon Davidson and Aiden Guzman with two each.

At Sigel

Sigel St. Michael and Teutopolis split B game victories Monday evening.

The Sharpshooters edged out to a 4-0 first quarter lead and held a 13-9 halftime lead. St. Michael went on for a 29-20 victory.

Burton led the way with 11 points while B. Walk added 10.

T-town was led by M. Hoene with eight.

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town led 34-31 lead going into the final quarter then went on a 15-0 tear for the 49-31 victory.

D. Drees tallied 13 points while M. Probst had 11 for the Wooden Shoes.

St. Michael was led by Dasenbrock with 10.

At Altamont

Altamont played host to Windsor and sent the visitors home with two losses Monday evening.

Altamont claimed the seventh-grade contest, 28-16. The winners zipped out to a 16-0 opening quarter lead and led 24-8 at halftime.

Jack Neu scored all 10 of his points in the opening quarter. Blayke Huston added six.

Windsor was led by Tyson Nodalny with 10.

In eighth-grade action, Altamont led 20-9 at halftime and went on for a 42-29 victory.

Neu again led the way with 15 points while Lyndon Bannister added nine and Peyton O'Dell 8.

Windsor was led by Jackson Hartman with 18.

At St. Elmo

Stewardson-Strasburg claimed two victories over St. Elmo/Brownstown Monday.

Stew-Stras broke a 9-9 opening quarter tie in the seventh-grade contest  with a 12-6 second period run and downed St. Elmo/Brownstown, 44-32.

Pruemer led the way for the winners with 24 points while Duncan chipped in with nine. Stew-Stras improved to 5-0 in the National Trail Conference, 8-0 overall.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by S. Wilhour with 10.

In eighth-grade play, Stew-Stras was a 40-34 winner. St. Elmo/Brownstown held a 13-11 opening quarter lead and the score was knotted at 20-20 at halftime. Stew-Stras then had an 11-6 third period and finished out with a 9-8 final quarter.

Spannagel scored 12 for the winerns while Friese and HiIle added nine each. The team improved to 4-1 in the conference, 8-2 overall.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by M. Schaub with 14 and Troxell with nine.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City scored 54 points in both seventh- and eighth-grade action to down North Clay (Louisville) Monday evening.

In the seventh-grade game, CHBC ran out to a 17-4 opening quarter lead and handed North Clay a 54-14 loss.

Drake Thull scored 14 points for the winners while Lane Reed added eight.

North Clay was led by Ruholl with seven.

In the eighth-grade game, CHBC also had a first quarter lead, 17-9 and claimed a 54-42 win.

Zach Bennett scored 18 for the winners while Lyric Davis added 15.

North Clay was led by Frost with 17 and Lewis with 16.
