St. Elmo/Brownstown Nabs Win At M.G., CHBC, WSS Drop Losses At Cerro Gordo

MULBERRY GROVE -- St. Elmo/Brownstown picked up a victory over Maryville Christian at the Mulberry Grove Boys Basketball Tournament Wednesday eveneing.

The Eagles claimed a 48-31 win over Maryville Christian.

St. Elmo/Brownstown had two players hit double figures. Lowell Wilhour finished with 16 points while Jayden Hughett added 12.

L. Wilhour finished with seven steals and eight rebounds. Graiden Wilhour added five rebounds and had three steals along with Vadim Plum.

In other games, Father McGivney beat Lebanon, 78-32 while Mulberry Grove won over  Mount Olive, 66-36.

The tournament continues Friday as Ramsey meets Lebanon at 5:15,  Father McGivney takes on South Central at 6:45 and St. Elmo/Brownstown faces Mulberry Grove at 8:15.

The finals are scheduled for Saturday.

At Cerro Gordo

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg both dropped losses at the Cerro Gordo Boys Basketball Tournament Wednesday.

CHBC lost to Riverton, 58-41.

Riverton edged out to a 14-13 opening quarter lead but kicked into high gear with a 22-11 second period to lead 36-13 at halftime. Riverton had a 22-17 second half.

CHBC was led by Wyatt Rueff with 17 points. He was the lone player in double figures.

Windsor/Stew-Stras  fell to Tri Valley by a 57-28 count.

Tri Valley ran out to a 21-6 opening quarter lead and had a 22-7 third period surge.

The Hatchets were led by Jackson Gurgel with 12 points on four field goals, two of those three-pointers, and two of five at the line. Brody Bible chipped in with seven.

In other games, Heritage beat University High 55-47, Warrensburg-Latham won over LeRoy 51-36 and Heyworth downed Cerro Gordo Bement 59-40.

The finals are scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
