Dieterich, St. Michael, T-town Win Eighth-grade Regionals

Dieterich, Sigel St. Michael and Teutopolis claimed eighth-grade regional championships Wednesday.

In the Class 8-2A Casey-Westfield Regional, Dieterich came out the champion with a 35-32 win over Casey-Westfield.

Casey-Westfield edged out to a 9-8 opening quarter lead and led 20-17 at halftime. Casey-Westfield still led 26-22 going into the final quarter.

That's went Dieterich turned it on with a 13-6 final quarter run to pull out a 35-32 victory.

Emery Bill led the winners in scoring with 13 points while Claire Faller added seven. Lexie Funneman led in rebounds with six. Faller and Mackenzie Roedl had two assists each. Bill, Roedl and Kensi Stortzum had four steals each.

Dieterich advances to the Assumption Central A&M Sectional December 11 to face South Central at 6:30 p.m.

In the Class 8-1A St. Michael Regional, the host squad defeated Pana Sacred Heart, 31-25.

The Sharpshooters now advance to the Bunker Hill Wolf Ridge Sectional December 11 to meet Carrollton, a 40-21 winner ober Bunker Hill Wolf Ridge in the Mount Olive Regional.

In the Class 3A Teutopolis Regional, the Wooden Shoes easily won their regional championship.

T-town trounced Sullivan, 43-10. The Shoes held an 18-5 halftime lead athen had a 19-0 third quarter run.

Dreas led the way for the Shoes with 22 points.

T-town is now 23-1 on the season.

T-town advances to the Teutopolis Sectional December 11 and will meet the winner of the Paris Mayo Regional. Paris Mayo edged Lawrenceville Parkview, 32-30.
