CASEY -- Dieterich came out a winner while Effingham St. Anthony suffered a loss in the Class 8-2A Casey-Westfield Regional Monday evening.

Dieterich edged Edwards County (Albion), 28-27. Albion stepped out to a 9-1 opening quarter lead and led 19-10 at halftime.

But the second half was all Roadrunners as Dieterich had a 9-2 third quarter to pull within 21-19 going into the final period then outscored Albion 9-6 to pull out the victory.

Emery Bill led the way with 10 points while Claire Faller chipped in with seven and Melanie Niemerg had six.

Faller led in rebounds with 11. Mackenzie Roedl had four assists. Niemerg led in steals with six.

The second game went to Casey-Westfield over St. Anthony, 25-22.

Casey-Westfield took a 5-0 opening quarter lead but the Bullpups fought back to knot the score at halftime, 9-9. Casey-Westfield then had a 12-3 third quarter run.

Once again St. Anthony came back in the final period with a 10-4 run only to fall short.

Carly Budde led the Bullpups with 14 points.

"The girls fought hard coming back from an almost 10 point lead in the fourth quarter," said Coach Ashley Dryden. "But it didn't end out the way we wanted it to. They had a great season and I look forward to watching them play in high school."

Dieterich will now meet Casey-Westfield  Wednesday at 6 p.m. for the regional title.

Class 8-2A Casey-Westfield Regional

Class 1A Sigel St. Michael Regional

Effingham Sacred Heart's season came to a close in the St. Michael Regional Monday evening.

The Shamrocks fell to Pana Sacred Heart 51-22.

Sigel St. Michael was a winner in the second contest over Ramsey, 19-10.

St. Michael will now meet Pana Sacred Heart at 6 p.m. Wednesday for the regional championship.

 

Class 1A Decatur Unity Regional

Neoga's season came to a close at the Decatur Unity Regional Monday evening.

Neoga fell to Mount Pulaski, 22-17.

In the opener, Lincoln West Lincoln Broadwell won over Springfield Christ the King, 45-20.

Lincoln West LIncoln Broadwell and Mount Pulaski will meet tonight for the regional championship at 5 p.m.

 

Class 8-2A South Central Regional

South Central advanced to the championship game of its own regional with a victory Monday evening.

South Central downed Assumption Central A&M 41-25 in the second game.

In the opener, Nokomis ended Altamont's season, 36-30.

South Central takes on Nokomis at 6 p.m. today for the championship.

 

Class 8-3A Teutopolis Regional

Teutopolis advanced to the title game of its own regional.

The Wooden Shoes pounded Shelbyville Moulton, 38-3.

T-town put the game away in the opening quarter with a 23-1 lead.

Dreas led the way for T-town with 15 points. The Shoes are now 22-1 on the season.

In the second contest, Sullivan won over Macon Meridian, 40-12.

T-town and Sulliven will meet at 6 p.m .Wednesday for the regional championship.

Class 8-3A Teutopolis Regional

Class 3A Paris Mayo Regional

Jasper County saw its season come to a close in the Paris Mayo Regional.

Jasper County fell to Lawrenceville Parkview, 42-35.

In the opening game, Paris Mayo handled Robinson Nuttall, 39-8.

Paris Mayo and Lawrenceville Parkview meet Wednesday for the regional championship at 6 p.m.

 

Class 8-4A Taylorville Regional

Mount Zion came out the champion at this regional.

Mount Zion defeated host Tahylorville 37-33 to advance to sectional action.
