Effingham St. Anthony held a seventh- and eighth-grade shootout with Greenville and Salem Saturday.
The Bullpups won both eighth-grade contests,
St. Anthony tallied a 45-24 win in the first contest over Greenville. The Bullpups trailed Greenville 10-9 after the opening quarter but had a 14-6 second period run to lead 23-16 at halftime then continued outscoring Greenville in the second half for the win.
C. Bierman scored 14, B. Verdeyen 13 and A. Wagner 11 for the winners.
St. Anthony then beat Salem 51-29 in the second game. The Bullpups raced out toa 20-7 opening quarter lead and never looked back in this one.
B. Verdeyen scored 18 and C. Bierman 10 for the Bullpups. C. Tingley and B. Baudier added seven each.
In the seventh-grade game, Greenville was a 33-22 winner. Taking a 21-9 first half lead, Greenville put the contest away early.
St. Anthony was led by P. Phillips with five points.
Salem then claimed a 39-35 overtime win in the second contest. Salem edged out to a 7-6 opening quarter lead and led 15-14 at halftime. Salem led 25-23 going into the final period. St. Anthony came back with a 7-5 final quarter to tie the score at 30-30. But in the overtime period, Salem won with a 9-5 run.
G. Bloemer led St. Anthony with 14 points while P. Phillips added eight.

At Ramsey
Altamont competed in the Ramsey Seventh-Grade Tournament Saturday.
The Wildcats captured a 47-32 win in the seventh-grade game. Altamont ran out to an 18-2 opening quarter lead and led 30-26 going into the final quarter when it had a 17-6 run.
Jack Neu scored 29 to lead Altamont hitting eight field goals that included three three-pointers and was four of four at the line. Also in double figures was Peyton O'Dell with 10.
Altamont then trounced Mulberry Grove by a 60-20 count.
Two players scored in double figures led by Neu with 17 and Huston with 10.
Altamont led 18-4 after the opening quarter and 42-11 at halftime.

At Strasburg
Stewardson-Strasburg split victories with Sigel St. Michael in seventh- and eighth-grade action.
In the seventh-grade contest, Stew-Stras was a 27-22 winner. St. Michael moved into a 4-2 openig quarter lead. The score was tied at 11-11 at halftime. Stew-Stras again moved ahead 21-18 going into the final quarter and then took the win.
Richter led the way with 12 points for the winners while Worman added eight. Stew-Stras improved to 6-0.
St. Michael was led by B. Walk with 11.
In the eighth-grade contest, the Sharpshooters claimed a 67-24 victory by stepping out to a 19-5 opening quarter lead.
Three players hit double figures for St. Michael. Ballinger led the way with 16 points while Andrews and Ordner added 10 each.
Stew-Stras was led by Hille with 10. Stew-Stras dropped to 6-2.
