Effingham St. Anthony won the championship of the Class 7-2A Palestine Regional.

PALESTINE -- Effingham St. Anthony claimed the championship of the Class 7-2A Palestine Girls Basketball Regional with a 21-15 victory over Dieterich Wednesday evening.

The Bullpups and Roadrunners were tied at 3-3 after the first quarter. St. Anthony then pushed into an 11-6 halftime lead.

Dieterich came back with a 7-2 third quarter to tie the game at 13-13. St. Anthony then came back with an 8-3 final quarter for the victory.

Nina Semple led in scoring for the Bullpups with nine points while Bella Schultz added eight.

Dieterich was led by Mya Ohnesorge with seven points.

St. Anthony advances to the Casey-Westfield Sectional Wednesday, December 4 and will face Nokomis at 6:30 p.m.

Class 7-2A Nokomis Regional

Nokomis claimed the title of its own regional by edging Assumption Central A&M, 29-28.

Nokomis advances to the Casey-Westfield Sectional December 4 at 6:30 p.m. to meet Effingham St. Anthony.

 

Class 7-1A Pana Sacred Heart Regional

Pana Sacred Heart captured the championship of its own regional by downing Sigel St. Michael.

Sacred Heart won by a 39-30 count.

Pana Sacred Heart advances to its own sectional December 4 against Carroll St. John, who won the Mulberry Grove Regional.

 

Class 7-1A Decatur Unity Regional

Springfield Christ the King was an easy winner over Lincoln West Lincoln Broadwell, 31-11 to win the Decatur Unity Regional championship.

Springfield Christ the King advances to the Decatur Unity Sectional Wednesday, Dec. 4 to meet Liberty, who defeated Griggsville-Perry to win the Ashland Regional.

 

Class 7-3A Sullivan Regional

Teutopolis handled Sullivan to the tune of 30-12 to claim the championship of the Sullivan Regional Wednesday evening.

T-town edged out to a 7-4 opening quarterl ead and held Sullivan scoreless in the second period to lead 11-4 at halftime.

The Shoes then had a 13-5 third quarter.

Zerrusen led the way with nine points for the Shoes while Ruholl added six. T-town is now 23-1 on the season.

The Shoes will be back in action December 4 in the Paris Mayo Sectional and will face either Lawrenceville Parkview or Red Hill (Bridgeport). That score has not been reported to the IESA.

Class 7-3A Sullivan Regional

Class 7-3A Paris Mayo Regional

Lawrenceville Parkview and Red Hill (Bridgeport) were to meet in the regional championship Wednesday but no score has been reported to the IESA.

 

Class 7-4A Mount Zion Regional

Mount Zion claimed the crown of its own regional with a 23-19 victory over  Taylorville Wednesday evening.

Mount Zion now advances to the Rochester Sectional and will face Chatham Glenwood at 6:30 p.m. Chatham Glenwood won the championship of the Quincy Regional with a 24-20 win over Springfield Grant.
