TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis and Effingham St. Anthony split junior high boys basketball victories Monday evening.

T-town was the winner in seventh-grade action, 37-19. The Shoes held an 8-2 opening quarter lead and led 16-10 at halftime. T-town then had a 16-6 third quarter run.

Connor Althoff and Mason Giles tallied 10 points each to lead the Shoes.

St. Anthony was  led by R. Schumacher with 10 points.

In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony came back from a four-point opening quarter deficit to edge T-town 41-39.

T-town held a 13-9 opening lead. The score was tied at 23-23 at halftime and 32-32 going into the final quarter when the Bullpups won.

Verdeyen led the way in the win with 17 points while Hoene added eight.

T-town was led by Sammy Probst with 14, Blake Niemerg with 11 and Kale Goeckner with 10.

At Teutopolis

At Effingham

Effingham played host to Robinson Nuttall and claimed the eighth-grade victory but fell in seventh-grade action Monday evening.

Robinson Nuttall won the seventh-grade contest, 41-30. Nuttall connected for 14 points to take a 14-5 opening quarter lead and led 25-19 at halftime.

Nuttall continued to remain in control with a 7-6 third quarter and a 9-5 final period.

Deek Thompson was the lone Mustangs player in double figures with 14.

At Louisville

Effingham Sacred Heart and North Clay (Louisville) claimed a victory each Monday evening.

In the seventh-grade contest, Sacred Heart was a 60-27 winner. The Shamrocks blasted out to a 20-8 opening quarter lead and led 37-16 at halftime.

Two players hit double figures as Hayes and Traub both scored 21 points. Hayes hit nine field goals, two of those three-pointers, and was one of two at the line. Traub connected on 10 field goals and was one of two at the line.

North Clay was led by Ruholl with seven points.

In eighth-grade action, North Clay edged the Shamrocks 50-49.

The two teams were tied at 12-12 after the opening quarter and North Clay moved into a 27-26 halftime lead. Sacred Heart came back with a 12-11 third quarter to tie the score at 38-38. North Clay then pulled out the victory behind the hot shooting of Frost who hit three baskets, one a three-pointer, in the final quarter.

Lewis led the way for the winners with 23 while Frost finished with 17.

Sacred Heart was led by Traub with 31 points on 14 field goals, one a three-pointer, and two of two at the line.

At Louisville

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City played host to Windsor and claimed two victories Monday evening.

CHBC took the seventh-grade win by a 45-11 score by stepping out to a 17-0 opening quarter lead.

Drake Thull scored 20 points on 10 field goals while Lane Reed added 10.

Windsor was led by Nadolny with nine.

In the eighth-grade game, CHBC was a 51-32 winner. Once again the Bobcats ran out to a big opening quarter 18-7 lead.

Three players hit double figures led by Kaisyn Calame with 20 points. Lyric Davis added 12 and Zach Bennett tallied 10.

Windsor was led by Hartman with 17 points.

At Beecher City

At Findlay

Stewardson-Strasburg downed Okaw Valley twice in action Monday evening.

Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade game, 38-28 behind a 13-7 second quarter and an 11-5 third period.

Richter and Pruemer led the way with 13 points each as Stew-Stras improved to 5-0 on the season.

In the eighth-grade contest, Stew-Stras held a 16-13 halftime lead and by only a point after the third quarter but came through with a 14-2 final period for the 36-23 win.

Friese scored 12 and Hille 10 for the winners who are now 6-1 on the season.

At Findlay

At Newton

Jasper County fell to Flora in both seventh- and eighth-grade games Monday evening.

Flora claimed the seventh-grade contest 45-39. Flora held a 22-14 halftime lead and held off Jasper County.

Jacob Guzman led Jasper County with 13 points while Grant Frichtl had 11 points and was the top rebounder. Alex Keller was the top passer.

In the eighth-grade game, Flora claimed a 55-41 victory.

Chase Kistner was the lone Jasper County player in double figures with 11. Brenden Emmerich led in rebounds. Kistner was the top defender. Preston Harris was the top passer.

Jasper County is now 3-2 in both seventh- and eighth-grade play.
