Seventh-grade girls basketball regionals continued Monday evening after opening play Saturday.

Following are the results from each regional:

 

Class 7-1A Decatur Unity Regional

Neoga saw its season end with a loss in the Decatur Unity Regional Monday evening.

Springfield Christ the King was a 37-17 winner over Neoga.

In the second game of the evening, Lincoln West-Lincoln Broadwell downed Decatur American Dreamer 31-23.

Wednesday, Springfield Christ the King will meet Lincoln West-Lincoln Broadwell at 5 p.m.for the regional championship.

 

Class 7-2A Nokomis Regional

Assumption Central A&M claimed a 30-18 victory over Altamont in the first game of the evening.

In the second contest, Nokomis downed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 29-22.

"We fell short tonight with too many turnovers and too many missed free throws," said CHBC Coach Carolyn Wendte. "The girls had a great seventh-grade season posting a final record of 16-8."

CHBC took a 7-4 opening quarter lead but trailed Nokomis 14-8 at halftime. Nokomis then had a slight 15-14 second half run for the win.

Elaina Thompson led CHBC with 10 points while Valentina Doty added eight.

Assumption Central A&M will meet Nokomis at 6 p.m. Wednesday for the championship.

Class 7-2A Palestine Regional

Effingham St. Anthony and Edwards County (Albion) went three overtimes before this game was decided at the Palestine Regional Monday evening.

The Bullpups came out on top by a 36-33 score.

Edwards County edged out to a 7-6 opening quarter lead and led 12-10 at halftime. St. Anthony came back with four points in the third period to pull ahead 14-12 going into the final quarter. Edwards County then had an 8-6 run to tie the score at 20-20, sending the game into the first overtime period. Both teams tallied four points and again scored four points each in the second overtime.

Then in the final overtime period, St. Anthony had an 8-5 run for the win.

Bella Schultz scored 17 to lead the Bullpups while Caelyn Buehnerkemper added seven.

In the second game, Dieterich was a 37-14 winner over Casey-Westfield.

The Roadrunners edged out to an 8-4 opening quarter lead then pushed the game into high gear with a 13-3 second period to lead 21-7 at halftime.

Dieterich kept the pressure on with a 12-4 third quarter to lead 33-11 going into the final quarter.

The Roadrunners were led in scoring by Mackenzie Roedl with 10, Emery Bill with nine and Lydia Kreke with eight. Kreke had seven rebounds and three steals. Roedl had three assists.

St. Anthony and Dieterich will now square off for the championship of the Palestine Regional Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Class 7-3A Sullivan Regional

Teutopolis came out a winner by a big, big margin over Macon Meridian Monday evening, 58-11.

The Wooden Shoes set the tone early with an 18-4 opening quarter run and held a 30-6 halftime lead.

T-town came out with an 18-5 third period and finished with a 10-0 final quarter.

Probst led the way with 10 points for the Shoes while Meyer and Murray tallied eight each.

The Shoes are now 22-1 on the season and will meet Sullivan, a 38-8 winner over Pana in the second game Monday evening, at 6 p.m. Wednesday for the regional championship.

Class 7-3A Paris Mayo Regional

Jasper County's season came to a close in the Paris Mayo Regional Monday evening.

In the opening contest, Lawrenceville Parkview defeated Robinson Nuttall, 36-14.

Jasper County then fell in a close contest to Red Hill (Bridgeport), 19-16.

Lawrenceville Parkview and Red Hill will meet Wednesday for the regional championship at 6 p.m.

 

Class 7-4A Mount Zion Regional

Effingham fell to Mount Zion in the Mount Zion Regional Monday evening, 47-10.

Mount Zion held the Mustangs scoreless in the opening quarter while taking a 16-0 lead. The homestanders led 30-4 at halftime.

Effingham was led by Bailey with eight points.

In the second contest, Taylorville edged Mattoon, 23-21.

Mount Zion and Taylorville will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday for the regional championship.
