TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis played host to Mount Zion and Troy Triad Saturday in junior high boys basketball action.

In seventh-grade play against Mount Zion, T-town was a 36-18 winner. The Shoes edged out to a 9-7 opening quarter lead then put it in high gear with a 14-0 second period.

Mason Giles led the Shoes with 14 points while Connor Althoff added nine.

In the eighth-grade contest against Mount Zion, T-town fell by a 35-27 count.

T-town held a 13-11 opening quarter lead but Mount Zion came back in the second quarter to lead 21-19 at halftime. Mount Zion then had a 14-8 second half for the 35-27 win.

Kale Goeckner led T-town with 12 points.

Mount Zion and Triad then squared off. Mount Zion edged Triad 33-32 in seventh-grade action and then took the eighth-grade contest 49-26.

T-town faced Triad and won both games. T-town took the seventh-grade win 38-19 with Kason Meyer scoring 13. Connor Althoff and Mason Giles scored seven each.

In eighth-grade play, T-town won 48-32 taking a 24-12 halftime lead.

Sammy Probst tallied in double figures with 17 points while Blake Niemerg added 12.

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown claimed two victories over Altamont in Friday evening action.

In the seventh-grade game, St. Elmo/Brownstown was a 36-16 winner.

Altamont held a 7-6 opening quarter lead but SEB moved ahead 13-10 at halftime then had a 15-3 third quarter that put the game away.

Altamont was led by Jack Neu with seven points.

In eighth-grade action, St. Elmo/Brownstown easily claimed a 60-25 victory.

SEB was led by three players in double figures. Stufflebeam and Troxell led the way with 12 points each while M. Schaub added 10.

Altamont was led by Logue with nine points.

St. Elmo/Brownstown ripped out to a 21-6 opening quarter lead and that was the game.

At Strasburg

Neoga competed in the Stewardson-Strasburg Eighth-Grade Tournament Saturday.

Neoga fell in both contests, losing the opener to Mattoon St. Johns 42-28.

Mattoon St. John's held a 17-15 halftime lead then had a 14-5 third quarter surge.

Liam Kenworthy led Neoga with six points.

Shelbyville then claimed a 34-18 victory over Neoga in the second contest.

Shelbyville held a10-3 first quarter lead and led 13-7 at halftime.

Neoga's leading scorers were Benji Strobl and Baylor Matusas with five points each.
