Effingham St. Anthony came out the winner in both seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketball action over Effingham Thursday evening.
The Bullpups claimed the seventh-garde contest 32-8. St. Anthony held a 14-6 first half lead then had a 14-2 third quarter run that put the contest in the win category.
Schultz led the way for the winners with 12 points while N. Semple added seven.
Effingham was led by Barnhart, Bierman, Meltabarger and Smith with two each.
The eighth-grade contest was much closer as St. Anthony won 24-20.
Effingham took an 8-6 opening quarter lead. The score was tied at 12-12 at halftime and 18-18 at the third quarter. St. Anthony then had a 6-2 final quarter run to pull out the victory.
Budde led the way for St. Anthony with 11 points.
Effingham was led by Martin with 10.

At Cowden
Altamont came calling and picked up two victories over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Thursday evening.
Altamont won the seventh-grade game by a point, 20-19. CHBC held a 3-0 opening quarter lead and led 7-4 at halftime. Altamont started its comeback with a 10-8 third period to trail 15-14 going into the final quarter then had a 6-4 tally for the victory.
Burrus led the winners with 10 points.
CHBC was led by Valentina Doty with six as the team dropped to 13-7 on the season.
In eighth-grade action, Altamont moved ahead 8-4 in the opening quarter and led 10-5 at halftime. CHBC came back with a 12-9 second half but still fell 19-17.
Ruholl scored 12 of Altamont's 19 points.
CHBC was led by Reese Vaughn, Harper Lilly and Elaina Thompson with four points each.

Dieterich came callng at Cumberland and traveled back home with two wins Thursday evening.
Dieterich was a winner in the seventh-grade game, 24-12. The Roadrunners moved ahead 10-6 in the opening quarter and led 12-6 at halftime. They then had a 10-4 third quarter run.
Mya Ohnesorge led with 10 points while Emery Bill added six.
In eighth-grade action, Dieterich won 34-12. The Roadrunners led 13-6 at halftime then had a 9-0 third quarter.
Claire Faller tallied 11 for the winners.
No stats were listed for Cumberland.
