The Mustangs claimed the seventh-grade contest by a 32-17 count. They moved into a 16-12 opening half lead and had an 8-4 third quarter run to seal the deal.
Barnhart led the way for Effingham with 16 points on eight field goals. Smith chipped in with six.
North Clay was led by A.Jones with seven points.
In eighth-grade play, Effingham held off North Clay by a 28-23 tally.
The Mustangs took a 10-6 opening quarter lead as Laynee Pankau connected on two baskets. Pankau scored four more points in the second quarter as Effingham pushed its lead to 20-11.
North Clay came back with an 8-4 third period run and had a 4-3 final quarter but couldn't make up that first half deficit.
Pankau finished with eight points to lead Effingham.
North Clay was led by Compton with 13.

At Neoga
Neoga picked up two wins over Sigel St. Michael in Monday evening play.
Neoga zipped out to a 12-4 opening quarter lead and headed on to a 31-22 win over the Sharpshooters.
Bear led the way with 11 points for Neoga while N. Hartke chipped in with eight. Bear connected on one three-pointer.
St. Michael was led by B. Niebrugge with seven.
In the eighth-grade action, Neoga took the 10-5 opening quarter lead and went on for a 42-27 win.
M. Frankie connected on nine field goals and one of four from the line for 19 points. L. Hartke added seven.
St. Michael was led by Ordner with 10.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg tallied a victory over Okaw Valley Monday.
WSS took a 7-2 opening quarter lead and led 14-6 at halftime. The team came out with a 16-5 third quarter run.
The winners were led by I. Manhart with 15 and French with nine. The team improved to 5-9 on the season.
WSS is back in action tonight at 6 and will play host to Effingham Sacred Heart at Windsor.

Dieterich came calling at Jasper County and came away with two victories on the evening.
In the seventh-grade contest, the Roadrunners were 20-18 winners. Jasper County held a 4-3 opening quarter lead and led 10-5 at halftime. The Roadrunners came back with a 9-2 third period to lead 14-12 and finished out with the two point victory.
Emery Bill led the way with 10 points. Mya Ohnesorge and Mackenzie Roedl pulled down eight rebounds each. Bill had three steals. Roedl led in assists with three.
In the eighth grade contest, Jasper County came out a 26-14 winner by leaping out to a 13-2 first quarter lead.
Dieterich was led by Claire Faller with five points. Melanie Niemerg led in steals with four and assists with two. Lexie Funneman had four rebounds.
In a seventh-grade C contest, Dieterich was a 20-6 winner. Ava Benefiel scored eight points for the winners and pulled down 10 rebounds. Carli Albert had two assists and five steals.

At Cowden
Teutopolis claimed another victim as the Wodoen Shoes won both the seventh- and eighth-grade games over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday evening.
The Wooden Shoes were 39-4 winners in the seventh-grade contest behind a 21-4 opening half run.
J. Tegeler tallied 12 points while A. Meyer added eight as the Shoes are now a perfect 18-0.
CHBC was led by Elaina Thompson with all four points as the Bobcats dropped to 13-6 on the season.
In the eighth-grade game, T-town had a 30-4 opening half and won 43-8. Drees and Tegeler tallied 10 points each for the winners who are unbeaten at 18-0.
CHBC was led by Kynlee Robertson, Reese Vaughn, Valentina Doty and Thompson with two points each. The Bobcats dropped to 5-13.
