Effingham St. Anthony claimed the seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketbal victories over Dieterich Monday evening.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade contest 25-19. Dieterich took an 11-9 halftime lead but St. Anthony came back with a 16-8 second half run.

Bella Schultz led the way for the Bullpups with 14 points.

Dieterich was led by Mackenzie Roedl with six points and Lydia Kreke with seven rebounds.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony edged Dieterich 14-12.

The Bullpups held a 7-4 first half lead. Dieterich came back with a slight 8-7 second half but it was too little.

Cheyenne Barker and Carly Budde led the way for the winners with five points each.

Dieterich was led by Kensi Stortzum and Violet Iffert with four points each.

In a C game, Dieterich tallied a 13-4 win. Nora Wente led in points with seven and rebounds with four.

At Effingham

Effingham and Paris Mayo split victories during Monday evening competition.

In the seventh-grade contest, the Mustangs won 24-13.

Effingham trailed Paris Mayo 6-4 after the opening quarter but came back to move ahead 10-6 at halftime then had a 14-7 second half.

Bailey led the way for Effingham with 14 points.

In the eighth-grade game, Paris Mayo ripped out to a 16-2 opening quarter lead and never looked back in a 44-10 win. Mayo was led by Sloan Vilk and Maddy Adams with 14 points each.

Effingham was led by April Martin with three points.

At Sigel

Teutopolis put together two victories over Sigel St. Michael Monday evening.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade matchup by a 48-22 count.

T-town held a 22-8 halftime lead. Dennis and Meyer scored 10 each for the Shoes.

The Sharpshooters were led by B. Niebrugge with 16.

In eighth-grade play, T-town was a 28-15 winner. Martin scored 12 for the Shoes.

St. Michael was led by Ordner with seven.

T-town improved to 11-0 in both seventh- and eighth-grade action.

At Mulberry Grove

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City claimed two victories over Mulberry Grove Monday evening.

The Bobcats won the seventh-grade encounter 26-22 and improved to 10-3 on the season.

Elaina Thompson was the lone CHBC player in dojble figures with 10.

In the eighth-grade matchup, CHBC was a 31-7 winner. The Bobcats held a 15-2 halftime lead.

Thompson again led the way in scoring with 16 points.

The eighth-grade squad is now 3-9 on the season and returns to action Wednesday at Dieterich in the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Tournament against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 8 p.m.
