NEOGA -- Effingham St. Anthony and Neoga split junior high girls basketball victories Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade matchup, 50-17. Two players hit double figures for St. Anthony as Schultz led with 14 and Semple added 12.

Neoga was led by Hartke with six points.

In the eighth-grade contest, Neoga tallied a 32-30 victory. Neoga held a 15-12 halftime lead. St. Anthony outscored Neoga 18-17 in the second half only to fall short.

Frankie led the way for the winners with 10 points.

St. Anthony was led by Budde with 12.

At Mattoon

Effingham fell to Mattoon in eighth-grade competition Tuesday by a 15-8 score.

The Mustangs held a 6-4 opening quarter lead but neither team scored in the second period. Mattoon then moved ahead 9-7 going into the final period.

Effingham was led by April Martin with four points.

There was no report on the seventh-grade contest.

At Dieterich

Dieterich was a winner in both seventh- and eighth-grade action over Altamont Tuesday.

Dieterich won the seventh-grade game, 24-13. Mya Ohnesorge was the lone Dieterich player in double figures with 10.

In the eighth-grade game, Dieterich won 14-8. Lexie Funneman and Violet Iffert had four points each for the winners.

At Louisville

Teutopolis scored 40 plus points in both seventh- and eighth-grade play for victories over North Clay (Louisville) Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade contest 46-4, running out to a 28-4 halftime lead and holding North Clay scoreless in the third quarter.

Penny Dennis scored 10 for the winners.

North Clay was led by Janelle Jordan and Keya Cable with two each.

In eighth-grade action, T-town again ran out to a big lead, 17-1 after one quarter and 32-3 at halftime and went on for a 48-7 victory.

Maggie Drees tallied 13 for the winners.

K. Zills, M. Compton and A. Jones had two each for North Clay.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City scored two victories over Vandalia in Tuesday evening play.

The Bobcats improved to 4-1 on the season with a 28-13 victory in seventh-grade action.

Valentina Doty led the winners with eight points while Reese Vaughn and Elaina Thompson added six each.

In the eighth-grade game, CHBC claimed a 35-6 victory. The Bobcats stepped out to an 11-0 opening quarter lead and never looked back in their first victory with a 1-3 record.

Lilly Harper led the way with nine points.
