ALTAMONT -- Effingham St. Anthony claimed two junior high girls basketball wins over Altamont Monday.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game, 34-8. Schultz tallied 10 points while N. Semple and S. Semple added eight each for St. Anthony.

Altamont was led by Suckow, Neu, Brockett and Bowman with two points each.

In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony won 27-8. Stephens had nine points and Barker eight for the Bullpups.

Altamont was led by Bowman with four points.

At Effingham

Sigel St. Michael claimed an eighth-grade victory over Effingham Monday evening, 33-12.

The Sharpshooters edged out to a 4-2 opening quarter lead then had a 13-2 second period to lead 17-4 at halftime. St. Michael had a 16-8 second half.

Weissing led the way for the winners with 12 points while Ordner added 10.

Effingham was led by April Martin with six points,.

At Cowden

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City split victories Monday.

Windsor/Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade C matchup by a 19-14 tally. The two teams were tied at 2-2 after one quarter before WSS moved ahead 8-4 at halftime and had a slight 5-4 final period.

Eliza Pruemer led the way for WSS with 13 points.

CHBC was led by Towler with eight points.

In the seventh-grade B game, CHBC was a 29-21 winner. CHBC led 13-9 at halftime and had a 10-7 third quarter run.

Thompson led the way with 12 points and Doty added 10 for CHBC.

WSS was led by I. Manhart with 14 points.

WSS is back in action tonight hosting Casey-Westfield.
