Brownstown/St. Elmo's eighth-grade girls basketball team finished second at the Old Capital Classic in Vandalia Friday. No other information provided.
At Neoga
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Neoga split victories Friday.
CHBC won the seventh-grade contest, 26-22. The Bobcats stepped out to a 13-2 opening half lead then had to hold off Neoga in the second half. Elaina Thompson was the lone CHBC player in double figures with 11 as the team improved to 1-0 in the National Trail Conference, 2-1 overall.
Neoga was led by Bear with 14 points.
In the eighth-grade matchup, Neoga claimed a 41-11 victory behind two players in double figures. Madi Frankie led the way with 14 points while Ballinger added 10.
CHBC was led by Thompson with four. CHBC dropped to 0-1 in the conference, 0-3 overall.

Dieterich competed in the Sigel St. Michael Tournament and trounced Vandalia by a 38-4 count.
Calie Faller and Emery Bill led the way for the winners with eight points each. Bill and Lexie Funneman had five rebounds each.
Sigel St. Michael then claimed a 26-9 victory over Dieteirch. Violet Iffert led Dieterich with six points while Funneman had 17 rebounds.
