Here are the Illinois Media Class 1A-2A All-State boys' basketball teams as voted on by a statewide panel of newspaper writers/editors, TV/radio broadcasters, and internet-site operators. All media members covering high school basketball in the state were eligible to nominate and vote for players. Compiled by Quad Cities media veteran Steve Tappa (currently of MC22-TV and QCSportsNet).

Players received five points for a first-team vote and three points for a second-team vote. A five-player first team and five-player second team were selected in each class based on voting totals. A player must have been named on two ballots to receive honorable mention. All selections listed in order of voting points. There were a total of 33 voters (each voting in 2A; one voter did not vote in 1A).

Several area players reached honorable mention in both Class 1A and 2A and those included in Class 1A, Effingham St. Anthony's Brock Feaday (6-foot-3 junior guard/forward) and Ryan Schmidt (6-foot-4, junior guard/forward) and Dieterich's Caleb Gephart (6-foot-2, senior guard).

Receiving a single vote were Altamont's Kaidyn Miller (6-foot-0 senior forward) and Dieterich's Lucas Westendorf (6-foot-2 junior guard).

In Class 2A, Teutopolis' Garrett Gaddis, a senior guard, received honorable mention.

Also receiving a vote was Newton's Caden Nichols (6-foot-3 senior guard).

An area connection in Class 2A was Paxton Giertz of Seneca who was named to the Second Team. The 6-foot junior point guard's dad Mark Giertz, an assistant coach, played basketball and graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School.
